"Room 501 - Canal side. Clean and comfortable property. While the building I was in is dated, the room was very clean, good size and the bed was comfortable. A rarity in US hotels, the air conditioner was actually quiet and worked perfectly. The only not great thing was the door to the outside - did not fit the frame well resulting in the deadbolt not working and the main door lock is a simple door knob with a push in lock. "They are under new management and have made some nice changes. Beach towels are now by the pool, metal water bottles are given at check in and water stations are available to refill them. Free shuttle service is offered within a range. We used it every night to take us to dinner. Lunch at the pool bar is very good."

"I realize I am a hard sell. The suite we were in was nice and well taken care of. Need to upgrade bath towels though. We were in the signature suite and when you were on the balcony all you could see was the lot next to Rainbow that was full of garbage. A 10-minute sweep could take care of that. Also, lots of "stuff" in the parking area that should be removed, i.e. boxes with things in them and an old boat. We enjoyed their breakfast. All-in-all it was a pleasant stay and we would go back...

"Neat little spot in the central Keys! The grounds and layout of Captain Pips make you feel like you’re staying at a little resort! The several small buildings that house the rooms are colourful and have nice landscaping. I had some concerns the local restaurant (Porkys?) would be a dive bar, but we actually shared a great dinner and breakfast by the water there, really liked it for our family’s food needs. And the kids fed fish and saw a manatee in the harbour out front. The only down side is...
