Nestled in the private Mills Point Peninsula is Baxter’s Hide-Away cottage waiting for you and your companion. "Impressionism" enjoy my choice of artist paintings throughout the cottage.
Perfectly situated steps to The World Famous Colchester Causeway Bike path and Lake access.
Perfect for a couple or a single person. - not a good neighborhood for singles coming to party.
The space
Baxter’s Hide-Away Cottage is 15 minutes away from Burlington’s excitement College events, festivals, triathlons.
Baxter’s Hide-Away was just brought to life at 2 years ago in a unique way. The grounds won’t be complete until next year.
It is our goal that the cottage in addition to this enchanting area provide you with a restful and refreshing visit.
Guest access
Guest have this sweet Cottage to themselves.
The Causeway (bike path) access is a short walk down the hill. Also the Mills Point beach area is available for Mills Point residents and guests.
Other things to note; We now have a new heating system.
We have a keyless touchscreen deadbolt on the front door, so you won't have to worry about carrying a key. This gives you the option of arriving late at night or at another time where we can't meet you to let you in. The code to get in is reset after each guest, and I will give your keypad number before you arrive.
This is a quiet neighborhood.
There is a family of bunnies that live in the neighborhood you will likely see them hopping around at times.
No unauthorized guests overnight!

Overall ok, but some challenges
The property I think is as described and the location by the causeway is pretty fantastic, that is the big draw. Being able to walk/ride out to the causeway is excellent. Little things though marred the experience for me. Tiny coffee machine that is a little broken (top falls off, often into cup as you pour) - very cheap and can only make 2 cups. No coffee filters provided. Toaster is tiny, cheap and a bit hard to use. There is no established path so you are just trotting about 50 yards across a field and muddy patches. The parking up on the grass also is less than ideal. Also the lack of shampoo and conditioner was a tad frustrating. The left about 1/2 of what you needed. Still I did like many of the little touches of the home, neat little wall pieces.

Close to the causeway on Lake Champlain
Cabin-like rental across the street from the lake and a 2-3 minute's walk to the causeway. Bed is comfortable, and there is a nice deck out front and there are kayaks, which we not able to use, but it's a nice feature. A few caveats: if you have mobility issues, you might want to avoid this place because you have to walk on grass a fair stretch to get from the driveway. The bathroom is not that private: the ceiling is completely open. There were also a lot of mosquitos.

Another Lovely Stay!
Our second stay at Baxter's Hideaway was just as wonderful as the first. Albert is very responsive. The property very clean and well-equipped. The proximity to the bike trail is great. With beautiful weather we meandered along Church Street Marketplace in Burlington each night (highly recommend!). If you want to eat dinner in Burlington we recommend making reservations well in advance. We will definitely return again next fall!

June weekend
Unfortunately, it rained all weekend and we weren’t able to take advantage of the great location close to the lake and causeway. Hope to come back another time when the weather is more cooperative so we can bike and kayak.

Location is worth it!
This is very eclectic, interesting little place. It was adequately furnished with everything you'd need in the kitchen, including ice trays to make ice. Being so close to the causeway was the best!! We did lots of walks and fishing and exploring over there - that made this worth it. Our only issue was there is only one window unit AC for the entire house. When we walked in at check-in the house was 89 degrees as no one had turned on the window unit. We were able to get it down to a comfortable level by the next day. Just be sure to check the weather before your stay!
