Micro house cabin located near Silver Mines Recreation Area.

"We loved our stay and the facility was spotlessly clean. Amenities were more than we expected. There’s a Walmart 10 minutes away but you’re still out in the woods. Very secluded and private. The house next door is owned by the same owner so they don’t book that house while guesses are at the Micro. I need fast internet for my business so i brought my StarLink mini for internet. The line of sight internet service provided was spotty so i’m glad i brought the StarLink. My only suggestion is about lighting in the micro. I think the lightbulbs are 60 watt equivalent LED lights. I almost purchased some 100 watt equivalent at Walmart but i decided not to. You might just bring your own light bulbs if your eyes are nicely aged as mine are. We will definitely be back. For us it was a very nice getaway. Thanks Shirley"

"The mobile home was in perfect shape - the free snacks were a very nice touch, and as I had mentioned to Cathy that our anniversary was coming up, there were Happy Anniversary balloons waiting for us. When we first pulled up, it seemed like everything was a little more closely packed than we might have thought from the pictures, but in the event the property is well laid out to provide a real sense of privacy. Cathy & Richard were very gracious hosts and we felt like we could ask their help with anything. Re the area, highly recommend the Silver Mines Trail and Castor River Shut-Ins, and the Old Mine House’s seafood gumbo is quite good."

"What an amazing property with attention to detail in every room. The experience was definitely one that we will always remember from playing pool to swimming in the pool. From fishing to roasting a marshmallow at the campfire. The Master Suite was truly something to behold and loved the small touch of the king and queen capes! I loved looking up more of the history. Everywhere you looked some thing to be seen and I know we didn't see it all. The massive fireplaces and all the carved wood definitely showed the creativity of Guenther Foerster who built this amazing home from a small two room cabin to what it is today. The craftsman ship outside is spectacular with all the gargoyles...each one unique and the view from the tower as the sunset was nothing less than breathtaking. The stars at night were so bright and you could easily spot the big dipper and the milky way too. The hummingbirds have been coming there for years and likely drawn to the property by the original red roof. It was a blessing to be with someone who had previously helped to build and maintain the castle for over 15 years of his life. The stories he told and now being able to see them in real life was AMAZING!!!!"

"We were quite impressed with what has been done with the silo! Everything was clean and comfortable upon our arrival. The area was nice and quiet – just what we were looking for away from the city. Sunsets and star gazing were amazing. We would definitely love to come back to the area in the fall when the leaves have turned."

"I've given many 10 point VRBO reviews. This property fell short only because it was a bit dated and there still was evidence of as-yet-incomplete remodeling in the enclosed porch. The country setting was beautiful. It was very clean. The enclosed porch was a great place for family meals and gatherings, though the incomplete drywall work around the doors and windows keeps my rating out of the 9-10 category. It's a good place for a large family gathering and to keep within the budget."
