2/10 Terrible

"There was only one working elevator out of two when we arrived. The second day of our stay the last elevator broke. This left us having to go up and down 6 flights of stairs. The staff was incredibly rude and yelled at guests when they had concerns about getting to and from their rooms. We checked out early as this was the final straw. I lugged all our bags down 6 flights of stairs. The room was outdated, but more importantly it was unclean. The chair was falling apart and stained. The couch was covered in stains. The entire room was dusty. It also “shares space” with an extended stay option that is housing people who are currently experiencing homelessness- which is fine, but was not mentioned anywhere as an option- or we likely wouldn’t have stayed their with younger children."

The Shoals Suites and Slips

"The room and balcony were both clean and spacious. No major complaints - just that blackout curtains don't exist on the larger windows, which can be an acquired taste for some. We went over Memorial Day weekend, which is typically the onset of beach season, and had wanted to use the beach passes they advertise as part of the resort amenities, to park at various local beaches for our strolls. But at check-in, they said they had not ordered them yet for the 2026 season, so that was a letdown. Also, the buffet breakfast we thought the resort would provide onsite turned out to be just (2) $10 vouchers/night to Stone Street Cafe a 4-min drive away. Street parking is easy there, but just a juice at the cafe was already $10. A shout-out to Mario at the front desk though - he was responsive and prompt to answer all our questions. He was both kind and patient - a wonderful asset to Shoals."

"This was an excellent.very quiet property! It was very cozy, and felt comfortable and homey, like staying in “my own cottage” rather than a rental. The host was VERY welcoming and easy to work with, and it was clear that he was happy to have me! I would highly recommend the property and host. The cottage is on the property of an old motel that is empty, I’m told the host is going to turn it into more rentals at some point, but I really enjoy that type of thing (interesting historic-type buildings) and I loved how unique it made the property feel. Oh, and there was fresh fruit in the cottage!"

"Nice facility. Well situated for Yale Medical facilities, but also walkable to food options closer to Yale’s main campus. It was a hike on foot to Union Station, but easy by car. The room was clean and well designed. The stand-out for me was the fitness facility. Not only was the space large, but the range of equipment was considerably better than average. Extra credit to whoever is responsible for that! If there’s a “but”, although you can make coffee in your room, you will pay for it in the lobby."
