First the good: AMAZING VIEW from Screamer Mountain, Great communication with a great host, Bill. Plenty of space. Well supplied with essentials such as linens, towels, utensils, pots/pans, appliances, food storage bags, garbage bags, etc. Now the "not so good": Cabin is not clean at all - dust everywhere, vacuums clogged so do not pick up dirt on carpets or floors, it does not appear that flooring under the beds have ever been cleaned, upon arrival, beds had previous guests sheets and were unmade, and used towels were in a heap on the bathroom floor. I called Bill and he arranged for the cleaning crew to come while my family went out for dinner. I think all they did was make the beds with new sheets and hung new towels in the bathroom - cleaning was definitely not performed. And when we went to do laundry a few days later we were surprised to find the previous guests' wet sheets and towels in the washer. So before we could do our laundry, we had to move them to the dryer and finish what the cleaning crew should have done. The loft bedroom was unusable due to active drywood termite droppings on the bedding and pillows. The driveway is challenging to say the least, but you do get used to it after a few trips. Lastly, a suggestion to Bill: maybe lighten up on the cabin-style decorations so that guests have a place to set their own things on a few tables and dressers. All the decorations are nice but a few too many, and the cleaners cannot possibly clean properly.
