"Wow what can I say - we had a fantastic 2 week holiday at the Chateau and hope to return one day Highlights - the house furnishings and grounds , the equipment and a very special mention to Nicolas , the manager who was so helpful and even took it upon himself to cook us the local delicacy- he is a credit to the place !Montmorillon is a delight Criticisms - not anything I can immediately think of to be honest . The local villages are very quiet in late May/early June and the bars /cafes open periodically. Maybe a schedule of what is open when in Journet and La Trimouille would be helpful but that is nit -picking Thank you Stephen !!! "

"after many stays over the years, this hotel remains a fine simple choice for the area around Argenton. clean, neat, good breakfast, excellent restaurant. a classic old fashioned good hotel. "

"The hotel was in an ideal location for us so very convenient. Its a common place for truckers to stop overnight. If the restaurant is closed there is a supermarket 8 mins drive or a pizza vending machine 3 minutes drive. Friendly staff. No vegetarian options tho and the walls very thin in the cabins (not ideal if youre travelling with a child and theres a couple next door🙈). The shutters are fab, leave the room pitch black at any hour."

"Host very welcoming and solicitous. The meal and the wine were great. However, the wooden, winding staircase was difficult for my husband to navigate as he walks with a stick. Only a handrail on one side and it was a bit rickity."

"Well looked after hotel. Even though basic it was clean and comfortable. Ideal one night stay but probably not longer as would be cramped as storage space lacking. "
