"We loved the feeling of this place, as soon as we drove up the driveway. Everything about it was beautiful and I actually cried on the day we had to leave..... The accommodation was perfect for the three of us, me, my Husband and our Hungarian Vizsla, Hudson. We enjoyed the pool, walks around the stunning grounds, the views, the river access...... We even stayed an extra night, of which the hosts were great! We'll be re-booking again soon. So glad we found this unique little sanctuary of peace...

"Very comfortable with everything needed for a self catering holiday. Lots of outdoor space and we loved the pool. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and enjoyable days out. Saintes was a particular favourite. Nothing went wrong but we felt reassured that Bernal would sort out any problems. Grateful thanks."

"Had a lovely time in your chateau, thanks very much. The house was really beautiful, loads of space and lots of quirky features like the piano, vintage bicycles and attic rooms. Lady next door selling local cognac was very friendly. At night the sky was so dark, excellent for stargazing. The river charente is lovely for swimming in. Super!"

"Loved the outside area, pool is lovely and welcome with the heat in our 2nd week (~38C). Eating outside, under the cover of the wisteria plant was also a pleasure to avoid the sun. House is nice, particularly eating and living areas although the kitchen could be equipped better (utensils, mugs etc), but we managed ok. The house is old, but is in keeping with the other buildings in the area. However there are elements of the house that would benefit from being updated, e.g shelving in bathrooms,...

"Our stay at Robert’s house far exceeded our expectations. The house is truly beautiful and it was well equipped for our large party. The pool area was a welcome relief from the heat and the shaded area meant we could use it even at the hottest part of the day. There are many beautiful towns around but the house was so nice we found it hard to leave! Robert was a pleasure to deal with and he made a point of not being intrusive but was always available if we needed him. I would have no hesitation...

"The property had many attributes. The property is situated close by vineyards and farmland. It had a lovely orchard where the children could play freely, pick plums and apples which were later turned into cakes and crumbles as well as having a really lovely swimming pool. As the weather was hot the children and adults used the pool daily and had a great deal of fun. It was an easy walk along a path beside fields of sunflowers and corn to reach the village Boulangerie each morning when it was...

"We had a great relaxing break at Emma’s cottage. The location is good with plenty of options for restaurants and places to visit. The pool is a real bonus and Emma is a fantastic host always on hand if we needed anything but never intrusive. "This is a beautiful gite in rural Charente-Maritime. It's close to some really pretty towns and to a number of excellent swimming lakes. We are family of six (grandparents, parents, two children) and there was plenty of indoor and outdoor space for all of us. "We have had a lovely week at this house. The pool and garden were great for children and we spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying this space. The local host Lucy was super helpful and quick to address any queries/ minor issues we had. Lovely picturesque area to cycle around. Play and picnic area and tennis court a short walk/ bike ride from the house which was enjoyed by children. A great place to relax and unwind thank you 😊"

"Wonderful Chateau in Cognac area. Probably 10,000 sq ft with large grounds and a pool. Enjoyed evenings in the courtyard enjoying local wines and during the days touring several of the small local cognac cellars."

"A most wonderful base to share with our generous and accommodating hosts, Richard and Marie. They helped advise on where to go and what to see, but also gave us plenty of space to just relax and be. An idyllic spot with a beautiful pool and garden, which was a treasure to come back to after our days out exploring the region. It was simply a perfect holiday for us both - thank you!"

"We stayed for a night. The exterior looks a bit rundown but the apartments are great. Everything works, it’s well equipped and clean. There’s also an elevator which is a major plus. Daily continental breakfast for 11 euros - honestly it’s too expensive for what they serve. You have to bring down your trash upon check out and clean the kitchen if you used it. Overall a nice stay."
