شيكاماوجا
Lee and Gordon's Mills is one of the oldest gristmills in the state, located approximately 1 mile from the Chickamauga Chattanooga National Military Park in the historic town of Chickamauga. The property has been placed on the National Register of Historical Places. It was used by both the Union and Confederate armies as a place to cross the Chickamauga River during the great Battle of Chickamauga.
136 steps to the top of the tower. It's a stop on the Chickamauga Turn railroad tour.
The Battle of Chickamauga, fought September 18–20, 1863, marked the end of a Union offensive in southeastern Tennessee and northwestern Georgia called the Chickamauga Campaign. The battle was the most significant Union defeat in the Western Theater of the American Civil War and involved the second-highest number of casualties in the war following the Battle of Gettysburg. It was the first major battle of the war that was fought in Georgia.
