The municipality is limited to the north by Spain, to the east by the municipality of Vinhais, to the southeast by Valpaços, to the southwest by Vila Pouca de Aguiar and to the west by Boticas and Montalegre.

The main access routes are EN103 (starting in Neiva, near Viana do Castelo, where it connects with the EN13, and extends through a landscape that is multifaceted by the East of the Alto Minho, and throughout the North area of Trás-os- Montes, passing through places like Braga, Chaves, Vinhais, until finishing in Bragança) and the A24 (Chaves-Viseu). It also has an industrial zone with several regional companies. It can be said that it is an entrepreneurial city because, in terms of tourism, it presents rural tourism houses and good restaurants for the great lovers of Transmontana gastronomy.

"We were a family of 6 with parents, grandparents and 5 year old twin girls. In the words of the twins " this is amazing". Everything was perfect and the amout of things included with our stay was beyound anything we have seen before. Geraldene met us and explained everthing to us with a grand tour of the property. She was always available if needed and is an incredable host and made us feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxed stay with old world...

Fantastic and beautiful

"This must be our 10 th visit over the years I love bringing friends here. The look on their faces as you enter the walls to reveal this gem of a hotel Brilliant check in with friendly staff . We were hot and sticky being 37.c The large pool was open and welcoming The rooms clean and well equipped . Just one of our party had a plumbing issue with the shower Breakfast was beautiful with loads of fresh fruits and yoghurts . Plus hot food if you wanted . Staff very friendly On our second night we ate the restaurant in the hotel. Although very busy with a large group the staff were great and one of the best meals was had by all. Our group of seven throughly enjoyed the hotel has many antique artifacts as is like a living museum Will be staying again next year "
