Charminster old Dorchester road. This used to be the main road from Charminster to Dorchester when the main roads kept to higher ground to avoid marshy land on the flood plain of the River Frome. A new road was built centuries ago on a raised causeway across the meadows and it became the A37 running south of the village. This is now the C12 to Sherborne, straight , fast and notorious for road deaths.

Wolfeton House South Front A rough track leads off the main Dorchester - Yeovil road at the end of which is a magnificent C16 manor house. Like many such houses, it has had quite a chequered architectural history, with the oldest surviving parts, being the south front completed in 1528, and the gatehouse (extreme right), dating from 1534. The ancestral home of the Trenchard family, it survives today having been rescued from dereliction by the present owners. Grade I Listed.
