We hiked some of the trails in the state park across the street and drove to the national park about 20 minutes away. Lovely place and thankful it was pet friendly so we could bring along our dogs! "We wanted to see the New River Gorge & surrounding area and the Cardinal Cottage was the perfect place to stay. It had everything we needed including 2 king size beds. It was located in a peaceful setting on 11 acres. Our group consisted of 2 couples around 70 yrs old. The house had easy access and the 2 showers in the bathrooms were easy to get into. The owner was super responsive and answered all of our questions. We had a wonderful week!"

"We absolutely loved the stay here. Everything on the inside was very clean and everything that you would need is provided. The view of the river is beautiful and can’t wait to come back during the summer to enjoy the river. "We had an amazing stay, the location of the house was perfect, and we were in easy reach of all the hikes, climbing, and other activities we planned for the week. Everything was amazing until the area took a direct hit from a tornado knocking out power for the rest of the week. The manager did a good job of communicating with us about the power outage (this house does not have a generator) so the lack of power in the entire area was not what we hoped for on our vacation but is also not the fault...

"The house was extremely clean and well stocked with any needed items. The bedroom and bathroom on the main level was a necessity for us as we had older family members that have a difficult time with stairs. The location was convenient, as our main reason for the visit was the Bridge Walk. It was just a shirt drive down the road. There were many places to eat, sights to see and other attractions to visit all within an approximately15-20 minute drive."

"Very quite place way back from noise and business of city life. We were very busy with what we were doing but the campground around us looked peaceful. The cabin seemed newly built and had new furnishings. The only thing that was missing was a normal sized shower. The shower was very tiny and for the money it was overpriced. Other than that it was a good deal. "
