Hoping this property does well, it’s got all the charm, and an easy walk to most things in town. One of the more interesting properties I’ve stayed at.
This building has a tie-in to the original construction of the Cumbres & Toltec railroad. It has recently been refurbished with modern facilities but still has that 1800's feeling. Would highly recommend it for its location and history.

Wonderful host/owner overseeing everything! Beautiful rooms, especially the shower. Laid back and relaxing,
My aunt used to own this hotel many moons ago so i was so excited to stay the weekend. It has been beautifully remodeled . I loved everything about it. If my aunt were still alive she would be so thrilled to see it and its potential. I hope this place does well. I will be back
Old hotel being beautifully restored. Reminds me of the Wolf Creek Inn in Wolf Creek OR (where I lived as a kid). Wonderful people in the process of a continuing major renovation. Nicely appointed with 19th charm.
This is a lovely hotel settled conveniently across from the Cumbres and Toltec railroad station. It’s brand new, but renovated with much of the 1905-1920s features from the old building. Comfortable beds, and lovely updated bathrooms (with soft towels!) Beautiful!
We were lucky to experience their restaurant’s soft opening! Yummy food featuring southwest flavor. The bar is gorgeous and stocked. We took a beautiful walk around the sweet little town of Chama afterward. Highly recommend!
The property was recently renovated. It is verybcomfortablen and clean while maintaining a lot of its rustic charm. Floors are squeaky, but freshly finished and clean. The bathroom had modern finishes.
The syaff was wonderful, friendly and helpful.
Its nice that they have a restruant on site and the food was very good except the menu was a bit limited and service was a bit slow.
Overall a wonderful experience in Chama and couldnt be more convenient to the railroad. Highly recommend this for single travelers if couples.

The room was small but had been renovated and was nice. Problem was , we were older folks and dragging luggage up stairs was a chore. The website stated they served breakfast which we were counting on, but there wasn’t any. Chama being a small town, we found no restaurant for breakfast and had to drive to another town for that. The front desk and server for snacks was polite.
Trash outside on ground. Lock are scary because it very hard to unlock. Dont trust lock when leaving. Locals in bar loud. No air conditioner WINDOWS are view of metal roof next door
Iron Rail Inn was close to train station which was exceptionally convenient. Our staff was exceptional, and service was 5++. Although, the Iron Rail Inn was still under some construction due to renovations over the last year, the facility and rooms were very nice. The Showers were 5 star and the sinks were enamel with sewing machine bases and furnishings throughout were antique looking. The BEST happy HOUR in Chama....drinks were so reasonable and the specialty flavors: wow!
Loved LEA, the owner, staff and the construction team as well. All were just so pleasant and went the extra to insure our stay was memorable, including the extra Fourth of July Decor for our Chama Elks across the street put together by the construction crew. We will be back again next year for the final Ribbon Cutting and to check on updates with the Inn!
Participated in the soft opening of the hotel (accidentally). Family owned. Very friendly and helpful staff. Everything is new apart from the antiques used to furnish the rooms (apparently collected over many years before they bought the hotel). Quaint and cozy remake of a prior hotel. Has a. bar (was a work in progress), porch on first (ground) floor and patio on the second floor (with fire pits and comfortable chairs). They will have a small store and small restaurant (which will be a good thing as there are very limited dining options on Mon-Wed in town). Look forward to going back some day and seeing the finished product. Clearly a labor of love and more like a B&B than a chain hotel.
This is a renewed historic hotel located near the Chama train ride. The effort put into renovation is very evident. It has an authentic old west charm without being too rustic. The room we had was nice and clean with modern amenities for the most part. There was no AC but at that altitude we were comfortable with the window open. A word of warning, Go for the larger rooms. We booked late because we had not planned to spend an extra night in Chama but the train ride is a day long adventure. As a result we took the available room #206. It is very small to the poin of being cramped. Overall though I would be happy to stay there again, jut not in #206.
From the get go,my reservation was a problem I was given the wrong room. The hotel is still in the renovation stage. The front desk person had to find me a room,I was given a two bed two bath room only one problem one bath had no toilet. The room was on the first floor and it didn't have curtains on the windows. The final kicker was there WI-FI was not working so the television didn't work. The whole stay there was a DISASTER. The bar will not be open until July 4th maybe.
