"Stayed here a couple of times with family. Plunge pool rooms are perfect for quiet moments and private time. Aircon is fantastic and rooms are spotless.
Hotel is rustic and a little dated but this adds to its charm and laid back feel.
Fantastic location, on the beach. An easy stroll in to the brighter lights of Chaweng beach road and a nice, safe walk back to the hotel, along the beach with its many bars and clubs.
Facilities and staff are great. Pools and areas are well staffed and clean.
Not a shiny, polished 5star by any means but that’s not what Samui is about."
"We had the loveliest stay at Explorar. The food, staff, beach, accommodations and building is incredible. The only feedback is to inquire guest preferences (smoking or non). We were given the only ocean front room with a partial balcony, and spent every single day out ok the balcony so that was unfortunate, but the kicker was that The smoking area was right below us. We are two very health conscious non-smokers, who religiously use the gym and take care of ourselves. It was too bad to have such a small balcony for people that used it and have to breath in heavy amounts of smoke almowt every use. Two unfortunate things that are very easily fixable imo. Just inquire to guests if they’re non-smoking and make sure their room is away from the designated smoking space. Otherwise absolutely amazing stay. Minn was incredible!"
"Excellent resort, Great beach and facilities. Gym is very small, if that is something you want to use & rooms relatively small, but suffice and all you need. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great too. Will definitely be back."
"Our family of three (husband, myself and 7 year old daughter), have just returned from an almost two week stay at Kimpton Kitalay. We had an incredible time at the hotel. The room was clean, spacious and we loved the nightly treats whether it’s a face mask or toffees. There is always an attendant in your block of rooms if you need extra towels or a quick refresh. We made so much use of the balcony, such relaxing couches to read and wind down in peace. The breakfast buffets were excellent, the hotel catered for our dietary requirements, even making my daughter gluten free, vegan pancakes and muffins! Shoutout to Chef Banana who did a Thai cooking class for me and my daughter, such a special experience.
The kids club is lovely, plenty of activities for children to get involved with. The spa is fantastic, shoutout to Peng who provided the most relaxing massage I have ever had. The infinity pool and the room access pools were well maintained and clean, never felt too busy. The hotel is on a stretch of public beach where you can access water sports, food places, massages on the beach etc. Overall, one of the best stays we have had, all staff is friendly and helpful, food was delicious and the hotel itself was impeccable. Would love to return!"
"Everything about the hotel was acceptable but I was looking for more for the price. I felt the rooms were lacking in privacy. The rooms big glass doors all open onto a thoroughfare. So you had to close your curtains all the time to avoid people looking in as they walked by. So basically a room with no window. The bathroom was pretty basic and small. The room was fairly spacious. It was safe and quiet at night and the hotel well located in Chaweng beach area. Transport by public transport vans readily available. The pool was not as inviting as the pictures and smallish for a large resort. Access to beach was good and a pretty area. Breakfast was okay to good but could have been better. I would probably look elsewhere next visit. But overall an okay stay."
