"Went for a quick family trip at the end of basketball season to try and squeeze in a ski/board trip. Elk River made check in super easy and even made it possible for us to check in early. The cabin had everything we needed for our trip and Ellie Mays restaurant was awesome. For those that like sweet tea, there’s was on another level. The grounds itself had a lot to offer and my daughter and I did some exploring 2 of the days we were there."

"The house was perfect for our needs. It was the ideal location as it was just 5-10 miles from the "big" stores or just a couple from the nearest Dollar General and gas station. Fat Eddies was a happening place with good food, ice cream and within walking distance if one truly wanted to walk there (we opted to drive since we spent the day hiking). "Our family enjoyed our peaceful stay in Slaty Fork during the shoulder season. The home was impeccably clean and appointed. The information packet was jam-packed with useful bits. If we were to come back for skiing or downhill racing, I would stay there–absolutely."

"Beautifully built cabin with knotty pine walls throughout. We had some very cold nights, but the propane heater kept the entire cabin toasty warm. Be sure to keep the living room fan on to circulate the heat. We were disappointed in the bed. It was low to the ground and made loud noises when turning or getting up. The bath mat in the shower needed replacing as it was moldy. Be sure to take bottled water unless you like brown water with iron in it. The driving sight-seeing around it is fantastic....

"Had a great visit with some old Army buddies. Cabins are located in the woods, very quiet and peaceful yet minutes away from Summersville and Fayettville and other small towns. Would definitely stay again."

"Overall we enjoyed our stay! The master bedroom doesn't get the best A/C airflow so it took a while to get to sleep at night but it was comfortable and roomy. The cabin is remote and quiet which was one of our main goals! We had a relaxing stay and enjoyed ourselves. Only downside is we did not see in the listing anywhere that said the pool wasn't open yet which was one of the reasons we chose this property. The owner's explanation made sense and they were very responsive and professional."

"We had a great stay here at the Muskie-Lounge River Retreat!! We were here for my son’s wedding. The cabin was clean and ready when we arrived. The Tenney’s were flexible on check-in times and allowed us to get in a bit early to be able to shower/change from traveling before our rehearsal dinner. Evenings spent on the deck around the fire was very relaxing!! Would for sure bring the family back again!"
