"Excellent hotel, rooms were clean and comfortable. Shower was hot and good pressure. A/C worked properly and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was , yuk! Final draw back, location! Although the listing indicates it’s 30? Miles from Yosemite. It takes you an hour and twenty minutes to “S” curve your way through a narrow canyon. It’s a long scary drive. But when you get to the hotel it’s very nice"

"Property was very clean and nice. Bed was very comfortable. Air conditioning worked and shower pressure was good as well. Kathy (manager) was very wonderfully helpful. My wife left her necklace which we didn't realize until 2 days after checking out. After calling, Kathy worked with her cleaning staff to inspect the room we were in multiple times and calling us to check with us until they finally found the necklace. She then helped coordinate shipping it back to us. She really saved us and cannot thank her and her staff enough!! Also worth nothing: very close to grocery stores (Pioneer Market and High Country Health Foods). Favorite coffee suggestion was Sticks Coffee. Sticks Coffee was very good third wave style coffee shop with really a amazing espresso/americano."

"We are a commercial traveler with over 3000 nights in hotels. We haven’t been in a Motel 6 since we came across the country from Ohio to California in 1962. Yes, their rooms actually were $6 a night back then. We paid $60 for our room at Merced Motel 6. That included a $6 upgrade fee to get a ground floor room. We only booked a single since we travel alone. However, all their single rooms are on the second floor. So much for “accessibility”…Only if you pay more… Our double room was so small you will bang your ankles on their plywood platform bed frames. The desk chair was so low it would fit a child nicely but not a medium sized adult. We added two pillows from the bed we didn’t use to be able to get to the right laptop height. There is no Kleenex box or coffee maker. We brought our own amenities. Our room was less than 100 feet from our car so bringing in our luggage was easy and quick. The A/C worked very good and cooled down our room (on an 88 degree day) quickly. The foam mattress slab on plywood bed was actually comfortable. Being a lazy Sunday night our motel area stayed quiet all night long. Check in-check out was simple and fast. The Motel 6 personnel simply did their job. No more – No less. There is a Black Bear restaurant across the street and various fast food franchises within walking distance. The best news about this Motel 6 is that they still have smoking rooms. We will stay here again when in the Merced area."
