Enjoying an idyllic situation on the 3000-acre Crofts Estate, surrounded by the Galloway Hills, these holiday cottages have enviable, dramatic views towards the Solway Firth and Cumbrian Hills beyond. Accessed along a private drive, and adjoining a cluster of well-maintained estate buildings, Stable Cottage (ref UUD) makes a romantic hideaway for two, offering stylishly furnished accommodation – its walls adorned with the original work of various Scottish artists. Had a last minute change in travel plans and luckily this place was available. So happy the travel plans changed because this spot was incredible. Ginormous house with everything you need. Stream running through the property and incredible views. If we ever return to Scotland this will be at the top of the list of places to stay.

A really lovely, spacious cottage set next to another property in peaceful countryside. Great for walks (outside of shooting season) and simply stopping to relax. Superb collection of Scottish art on the walls too. Dogs (like ours) are welcome, but you can't let them off the lead anywhere near the property, as it's a shooting estate and farmland. That's a shame, but understandable. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
