The location was on a quieter street about a 5 minute walk from the main square, so we were close to multiple dining and shopping options. "The Ortigia Charme Hotel is a well located hotel on the eastern coast of Ortigia island. Being situated at almost the mid point of the island it is perfectly situated for a leisurely exploration of the area. It looks like a small hotel from the outside but I think it has rooms in adjacent buildings. The staff are very friendly and cheerful at all times of the day. The breakfast is excellent with no problem ordering items not specifically listed on the menu. My only quibble is that the solid floors transmit noise from the room above. "

"The hotel is within easy walking distance of the airport bus stop if you haven’t much baggage. It’s very close to the metro station which is one stop from the train station. This was very convenient for me since I used Catania as a base to explore Taormina and Siracusa. It is around 15 minutes walk from the duomo and main tourist sites. The restaurant behind the hotel had live music outdoors but it was quiet by 11 pm. The breakfast buffet was very good with a fine array of choices. Management was very prompt in replying to queries on WhatsApp. Highly recommended. "

Area outside the Hotel was very dirty, rubbish in the streets, graffiti and very uneven pavements. The Hotel, however was a shining star amongst it. We would return!"
