We had the most wonderful stay here and really couldn’t recommend it enough! Absolutely wonderful, welcoming hosts, a 10/10 breakfast and a lovely hot tub all to ourselves. One of the best stays we’ve had in NZ!!

Best place we stayed in our lives

Before arriving we where all over the lower island of New Zealand for 2 weeks already. This was our last night there and the only mistake we made was not booking this homestead for the full 2 weeks. It was the best place we’ve stayed in our trip, much less our entire life. Highly recommend. It was so amazing! From the pool to the hospitality and the owners are so friendly and make you feel so at home. It was gorgeous as outside as in.

Clear representations

The place was addressed as 2127b Cadrona Valley Road, Wanaka Cardrona, We assumed that it was in Wanaka. It turned out that it is located 20 minutes drive from Wanaka near a village call Cadrona. We received no email directions to find the place which is tucked in a small turnoff off the main road. On our way there we called twice and was greeted with a message offering us 2 mobile phone numbers to call. The message was delivered so quickly that it was impossible to get the numbers,. Messages that we left was not responded to, Finally when we arrived, we were shown to our room. We found to our dismay that our bathroom wax located across the hall, it was not a room with en-suite as we expected, We wanted to watch the test cricket but found that the television does not work, By then we realised that we can’t be bothered with complaining to the hosts. The positives are that the environment is beautiful and the breakfast we had was well cooked, We believe that clear representation should be made about any property as expectations varies with different guests. Visitors need bet what they expect and pay for

We stayed at Waiorau Homestead for eight nights while we explored and hiked around the surrounding region, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything about our stay. First, the location and setting were just what we were after -- quiet, private, far enough away from the crowds of Wanaka but still an easy drive to get to anything you might want to do. The grounds are secluded and well kept, and the inn is clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated with lots of character and style. The owners are wonderful--friendly and welcoming--and they work hard to make your stay a pleasant one at every turn. They are experienced pros who know how to provide great hospitality, with just the right balance between attentiveness and respectful privacy. Great attention is paid to all the right details, large and small. The breakfasts are fantastic, abundant and varied, all fresh and flavorful ingredients. Blyth is an excellent chef, and if you stay here, you should definitely opt to have him cook you one of his 3-course dinners. You won't be disappointed. It might be one of the best meals you have on your trip and will definitely surpass anything you'll find in Wanaka. If you're looking for a small, personalized, and unique place to stay, I would highly recommend Waiorau Homestead. We'll be back again the next time we visit the Cardrona area.

This boutique hotel makes you feel like you are dear friends who have come to visit. The setting is spectacular and the property is set on a cozy rise overlooking pastures and across to the mountains of the Cardrona ski area. The food is first rate. Blythe and Ann provide for your every need. Hiking is available right from the front door. Riding facilities are nearby, and a wonderful distillery is just two pasture gates away if you want a delightful tour. Queenstown and Wanaka are within a twenty minute drive and the historic Cardrona Hotel, with awesome beer garden is a mere two minutes from the property. Splendid accommodations, excellent food, good location, and charming proprietors make Waiorau a terrific choice to stay.

Beautiful Homestead beneath snow capped peaks

There's nothing better than returning to a hot shower, comfy bed after a day of skiing. What set Waiorau apart from other accommodation experiences was the warmth of the fire place, the offer of a glass of local red wine and the friendly hospitality of the hosts. In a quiet peaceful location yet only 15mins to Cardrona ski resort and 20mins to Wanaka we truly felt on holiday. We are keen to return next winter to try out the hot tub and the outdoor fire place. The highlight for us though.... staying in one evening for a home cooked 3 course meal. Just divine.

What an experience!

My newly wed wife and I (with our 10 month old in tow) had the pleasure of staying for two nights on our honeymoon. We have both traveled extensively around the world and stayed in all types of accommodation though I can’t recall any that could match the stay Blythe and Anne arranged for us. They we so welcoming and friendly and the home stunning. Anything you could want they’d be happy to accommodate. Even picking us up from down the road when we were caught out in the rain! The breakfast are amazing and you have to have Blythe cook you dinner. The experience alone is worth the visit. We will definitely be back! Thank you Anne and Blythe.

Beautiful homestead in a fantastic location.

The homestead was beautiful - really tastefully furnished and in a lovely peaceful location with amazing views. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was fantastic - loads of choice! The room was really comfortable with plenty of space and a fantastic bathroom.

Outstanding Hospitality

Our hosts Re-Definr hospitality. They take it to a new level. Our rooms were wonderfully appointed and warm (the polar blast struck whilst with them). A top restaurant quality meal for 6 was hosted and cooked by Blyth. Sensational! Picture post card pretty location, around the corner to entry to Cardrona ski restore. Outstanding on all levels. Highly recommended. We will be back. Family of 5 with adult children.
