Hôtel Le Donjon - Coeur de la Cité Médiévale

"Very nice hotel in a very quiet area. Our room was having a small terrace at the garden main floor of the hotel. The staff was very helpful having a shuttle car to the parking outside the citadel. The breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the old streets, the old church and the old castle all very close to the hotel."

"Charming hotel with own secure parking. Room with a fabulous view of the city. Lovely breakfast. However, not for you if you struggle with stairs but overall, we couldn’t fault it."

"This is a well located hotel, on a quiet road yet only a short walk from the nearest gate into the medieval city, and from the airport shuttle stop for it. Our room was spacious and stylish, as was the whole hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, with all the hot, cold, cereal, bakery, fruit etc you would expect. We very much enjoyed an evening meal of the signature cassoulet, and tarte tatin. The late checkout was helpful too."

"As per previous reviews, this property was a great place to stay. It's smack bang in Portsmouth Harbour and right next to the bus station and Gosport ferry so couldn't be more convenient if that's your goal. It is a very urban location but a nice view of the harbour on one side but the bus station on the other. Breakfast was included in the rate and Excellent! Even the coffee was great (and having just returned from France, UK coffee is normally a step down). Unlike many properties like this, there's a proper lift which is a godsend if you have heavy bags as I did. Overall Recommended"

"Staff in reception very friendly. We had an apartment which was clean and had everything we needed although could do with an update, but for the reasonable price we paid it was good. 10 min walk to the medievil city and only a 2 min walk to main road for bus stops to modern city, shopping complex and Lake Cavayere which had a lovely small beach to have a swim. 30 min walk to the train station. Indoor pool was nice and refreshing after a day's sightseeing."

"A comfortable stay and friendly staff looked after us during our stay. The hotel has a lovely restaurant with a fine dining menu and nice decor. A convenient private car park is available on site too."

"The hotel is situated in a fantastic location, a stone’s throw from the medieval citie. I stayed in room 4 on the ground floor of the hotel for a 3 night trip. The room was beautiful and well equipped with coffee machine, water, air conditioning, bath and shower. The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout our visit. A big thank you to the night porter for my birthday drink. I would definitely recommend and visit again."

"This was terrific value for money and would happily stay again. While it's a good 15 mins or so up a hill from the station, for £40 or so, there's nothing at all to complain about- big rooms with cooking facilities, microwave and even a dishwasher should you need it, a lovely swimming pool and staff who were knowlegable and extremely helpful; particularly Guaytan , who couldn't have been more efficient and personable. All in all, very good."
