"The lobby smelled of smoke and air freshener. The room chain lock was put on backwards and would not lock from the inside. The mini fridge was full of water and the freezer was iced over. The AC was loud and did not work well."

"There were no staff when I have arrived and no one was picking up the calls to assist. I had to book another room late night and have to drive another hour to reach that hotel."

"Easy drive, no steep driveway. The property is immaculate and provided everything we needed. The host was easy to communicate with and the area is fantastic for hiking to waterfalls and water adventures. HIGHLY RECOMMEND"

"We arrived early to our rental (didn't even think about a time change), we actually met the cleaning lady (very nice and friendly) just leaving. She told us to let Bill know we were there early, which we did, Bill is very prompt with messages. We were very much impressed with this cabin, very clean, spacious and very nicely decorated.Comfy beds and pillows, everything you need for your stay except your groceries. Love that we had a washer and dryer, no need to overpack. The firepit was nice, didn't get a chance to use the swing on the wrap-around deck, we were too busy chasing waterfalls. We did sit out on the front porch every morning with our coffees, and at night listening for the whippoorwill and also hearing the water feature so peaceful and quiet.Did manage to take the trail out the back door to the Overlook deck, we ran out of time to sit out there with the nice propane fire pit table. It's a bit of a hike, but take your time, it's beautiful! There's also a composting outhouse out there if needed!All in all this is the perfect rental for 2 or 4 people. The first bedroom has the ensuite with a really nice shower, the other bathroom is in the hall with the tub (hand held shower head) is a great place to soak after a long hike!"

"This easily wins the award of the worst stay I ever had. Rooms unclean and smelly as if 10 people just smoked inside the room, microwave, freeze and furniture bought from junk store, unclean bathrooms. Families, do yourselves a favor, please avoid staying here ."

"Room were clean and spacious. Staff was friendly. Good breakfast and plenty of parking. They now have a couple of restaurants right next door. Loved the stay!"

The Retreat at Center Hill Lake

"The Retreat Center offered a fabulous opportunity for a midpoint stop. The location and property were stunning. The drive into the property offered great promise of a comfortable stay. The after hours check in was simple and the access to the room was right off the main driveway. Parking was easily accessible and close to the unit. The room itself was large, very clean, with a mini kitchen should it be necessary, and a single serve coffee pot was available. The bathroom was very clean, great hot water, and a nice fast showerhead. The fan extractor was incredibly loud! A porch overlooking the lake made for a very pleasant evening to sit outside as the lake traffic kept going to a bit. The area around the property provides great walking options whether along the lake shore, on paved roads through the property, or access to several hiking routes. The provided information manual was fairly detailed with information. This Retreat was a perfect stop on a very long drive. Simple in its offerings, it was a great stop. On another retreat, without access to internet, the property had great difficulty in connecting to confirm arrival details. Expedia no longer provides the option of a phone number for the property. Once in an area where communication was possible, the property was immediately available and advised on late arrival check in procedures. Do make sure you have all the necessary information prior to arrival."
