"Really lovely stay in this quiet little Oast House. We stayed in a round room, beautifully decorated with ensuite shower room. Tea and coffee and biscuits, TV in room. Plenty of drawers and cupboard space for clothes. Room clean and tidy. Breakfast was lovely, and everyone was so friendly. We also had an excellent roast dinner on the Sunday. Just a short walk into Rye, which was a bonus. Would totally recommend it, and we hope to stay there again. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old inn. The ensuite bathroom was amazing for such an old place. Very modern, very clean with a good-sized and fully powered shower and a nice area set aside with a make-up mirror. The landlord was very friendly. A good location for walking in the countryside or visiting the many nearby homes and gardens. We'll stay there again."

"Great food and choice of drinks. Room was lovely, although it needed a thinner quilt, as it was far too hot. A bit disappointed that breakfast was not served until 9.00 am, although they did offer me a take away hamper. This was a business trip so I could not hang around for breakfast. I would definitely stay again though."

"The food was excellent and the room we stayed in (room 12) was in excellent condition. The staff couldn't do more to ensure our stay was a pleasant experience. They were all cheerful and anxious to please. We were especially grateful to Sharon who was a credit to the management team. We would happily return to this hotel in the future."

"Welcoming pub, just stand between the beams if you're 6ft+ tall. Be aware breakfast only starts at 0830 which is too late for most working people but they made me a sandwich to take with me instead so that was appreciated."

"Although ideally located I was surprised to discover on arrival at circa 1800h on a Sunday evening that no food was available and worse still they have stopped serving breakfast altogether. I found out about the lack of breakfast on reading a notice pinned to the inside of the door to the room. I was told that The Bear have been unable to amend their website!!! Despite being invited to check in online I did not receive any notification about the lack of catering. There were no alternative food...

"This is a property from the 1800's so this should give you an idea of what to expect. Lots of grand original features and very traditional. My room was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. The hosts were an absolute joy to be around and provided great company and conversation. Breakfast was delicious and set me up nicely for the day. I would recommend without hesitation and I look forward to staying again. "

"The host was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome, very attentive and chatty without being intrusive. Also knew his stuff and the local area.The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, especially the breakfast. The menu was a good mix of traditional with creative. We ate there both nights. The room was modest but stylish, clean and comfy and quiet given there was a bar downstairs. The atmosphere was warm with a nice mix of locals and guests. You didn't feel...
