"We loved Vila Toca. It was conveniently situated and within walking distance of shops, bus stops (including the airport bus) and the town centre. Our apartment had plenty of character. The balcony on the third floor was large and lovely for al fresco dining and had good Mountain Views. We also made good use of the swimming pool. The manager responded promptly, helpfully and courteously to messages. The lady who cleaned our room was very helpful and friendly. It was excellent value for money....

"A fabulous location, and surprisingly quiet for being in the heart of the old town. Apartment 1 is at the top of the building with 2 steep staircases to navigate. But once up there it is airy and bright with everything you could need. No hanging space for clothes but lots of room to store items flat. Accommodating and quick response to messages with host. "Schön hergerichtete Unterkunft mit herrlicher Dachterrasse (den ganzen Tag Sonne) und tollem Ausblick über Funchal bis hinunter in den Hafen. Ein Mietwagen ist empfehlenswert, da es ein ganzes Stück bergauf geht. Parkmöglichkeiten waren i.d.R. vor der Unterkunft gegeben (öffentlich/kein fester Stellplatz). The shower leaked, the bathroom door is sticky and you have to call the company to meet you at the apartment to get in. There was no lock box. "It's a cute and clean apartment in the historic center of the city. We had everything that we needed. We had good experience and great impressions."

"The roof of the accomodation / conservatory lean-to was a tarpaulin. There was an entire louvre door with no glass so there was no insulation from wind up the mountain which rattled the tarpaulin roof. The Jacuzzi never worked and the shower leaked into the bath and flooded the room. No sound insulation from barking dogs or heat insulation and no heater. No television and no Wi-Fi. No restaurant. Five layers of duvets and blankets at night because it was so cold. Toilet did not work...

"Spacious apartment with 2 good size bedrooms and spacious kitchen/ diner. Well equipped kitchen and lovely terraced garden. The apartment is the middle of 3 apartments of a large house, it's located in quiet residential area about 5 km from Funchal in the hills. Great views of Funchal and harbour from the balcony which is west facing so you don't get the sun til later in the day. There is also a pleasant BBQ area to relax in.
