"A really nice stay in a great location for Aira Force, Ullswater & Keswick. It's an old building so a few creaking floorboards but all added to the lovely warm welcoming vibe. Beds super comfy, towels very plush and great Pure Lakes toiletries. The bar was buzzing with locals and visitors alike and the food was really good. We had a good night's sleep and woke to a lovely breakfast. We will definitely return"

"Amazing staff, great location and parking The food is average and the menu is very limited, the room (19) has been updated recently but was right by the the main road and a noisy extract fan on the floor below which came on at 4.15am every morning. Overall it’s a nice big hotel that has been in the process of renovation for the last few years. It would be a much better experience if they could expand the menu and quality of the food."

The Grange Country House

"As we were checking out, we booked a stay at The Grange for next summer, and I'm already looking forward to returning. Pretty much everything about The Grange Country House is wonderful. The location feels like it’s a bit away from town but it's an easy 15 minute walk to the main square. The staff were exceptionally attentive and so very welcoming. They seem genuinely kind, and are glad to answer any questions you might have. Our room was large with stunning views, and it was immaculate. The bathroom looks to have been completely redone quite recently, either that or it’s just maintained perfectly well. I don’t stay in many places where I actually want to spend time hanging out in the room but this was an exception. I spent plenty of time in front of the window in a cozy chair looking out at the fells with a cup of coffee and a toffee biscuit (both provided in the room). Breakfasts were wonderful, as was the service at breakfast. The breakfast room is bright and airy and we had lovely conversation with fellow travelers - everyone was so friendly! Overall: 10/10, exceptional, hands down."
