  • Glenbranter Cottage is a cosy cottage for two located in the Glenbranter forest. A peaceful and secluded glen at the head of Loch Eck, "one of the jewels of the (Argyll) Forest Park" and a part of the Lomond and Trossachs National Park. This charming cottage is ideal for couples who love the outdoors, the perfect place to unwind, relax and explore this beautiful part of the Cowal Peninsula. Let the sounds of the river lull you to sleep.

    Featuring an open plan living/dining room, a wood burning stove and comfortable sofa and armchair. A warm and cosy room to relax after a day's adventure to reflect on the beautiful scenery, sights and activities you have close by.

    The open plan area includes a small kitchenette area, a small fridge, combination microwave (grill, convection and microwave) and hob. For entertainment, the cottage features Freeview TV (FreeSat), Wi-Fi, a selection of books and DVD’s.

    The cottage features one double bedroom and a bathroom with a walk-in shower, hand basin and toilet.

    For the outdoors there is a lovely garden area to enjoy. The front garden has spectacular views of the beautiful surrounding forest and countryside.

    Whether enjoying an evening in the garden soaking up the views or relaxing by the wood burning fire, Glenbranter Cottage is an idyllic holiday cottage for all seasons. An ideal base to explore this spectacular region.

    The forest and surrounding lochs are renowned for walking and cycling. The cottage is close to the scenic Allt Robuic gorge and waterfalls, and sits directly on the Cowal Way, a popular 57 mile trail between Inverglas and Portavadie.

    Glenbranter also offers an excellent base for more challenging hill walking with a number of easily accessible peaks, rising steeply above Loch Eck and affording stunning views over the Cowal peninsula, the Clyde sea lochs and beyond.

    Three miles away is Strachur village, with its two general stores, the famous Creggans Inn offering delicious food and a cosy bar, and the Bay Cottage tearoom's delightful breakfasts, takeaway rolls, and meals throughout the day

    One off road parking space and use of a large lockable shed for bikes, and canoes.

    Well behaved dogs welcome. Max 2 per stay @ £3 each per night.

This wee but’n’ben was a perfect, peaceful escape from the city - even with the owners house right behind I was amazed at how quiet and tranquil it was. Great location for walks on the door step and everything I needed for a comfortable, self-catered stay. Lots of hot water and a lovely wood-burning stove that I enjoyed lighting even though it wasn’t particularly cold!Plenty of off-leash walks for my spaniel so she was delighted too: having the waterfall walk as a go to each morning and evening was very lovely, I’ll miss that.Midges were a pest but once I got the right deterrents and ointments I could deal with them effectively, wasn’t really prepared for them to be so evident this early!

A holiday cottage do remote it doesn’t have a postcode

This is a charming little holiday cottage set in the middle of a forest. We have really enjoyed our 3 night stay here as it was so quiet and peaceful we counted less than six cars passing each day mainly just walkers out enjoying the fantastic woodland. The cottage itself had a good sized shower and a recently fitted kitchen which isn’t shown in the holiday cottage photos. There is also a very nice well kept garden to the side of the cottage with ample off road parking. We would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for somewhere really quiet with nothing else to listen to other than the sound of rushing water from the river in front of the cottage with fantastic views in a place so remote down a stoney track that it doesn’t even have it’s own postcode though this place was easy to find with small shops about 3 miles away. A very cosy cottage that we hope to come back to one day.

Formidable

Très charmant cottage, dans une magnifique région idéale pour de longues balades. L'accueil est vraiment chaleureux, Alison et Mark sont très sympas. Un endroit à ne pas manquer, très bon séjour assuré !

Lovely quiet place to stay

A lovely place to stay, quiet and secluded. It's small but well equipped and everything worked well. No cell phone reception because of the enclosed valley location but the wifi is excellent. There are good hill walks directly from the cottage and lots more within a 20 minute drive. Have stayed before and will hopefully stay again next year.

GlenBranter just perfect

Perfect Hideaway!

This pretty little cottage is in a beautiful location, you really have to see it to believe it. We loved our stay here, there was so much to do and see we will have to return and we definitely wished we had booked for longer. So many walking routes on the doorstep in the most spectacular scenery.It is a perfect haven, our host gave us a warm welcome and the cottage had everything you could need.

Peace &quiet

Small bit cozy so many walks in the woods waterfalls and so quiet we walked along the. Loch sides and visited Inverary,Dunoon, the green welly Stop at tyndum had meals at two Pubs no more than 4 miles from cottage Were the food and service was excellent We certainly recommend this holiday location.

The Perfect Base

Glenbranter Cottage is the perfect base to stay whilst exploring the Cowal Peninsula it's set within the Argyle National Park, with lovely forest and river walks, with fantastic and scenic waterfalls literally on the doorstep. The whole peninsula is within easy driving range, with too many scenic routes to list. The cottage is small but perfect for two, it is finished to a high standard and has everything you may need for your stay. The hosts were very helpful and polite, and I would not hesitate to recommend this location.

Lovely Cosy Cottage

We absolutely loved our stay at Glenbranter Cottage. The location is beautiful and there are lots of lovely woodland walks in the area. The cottage is very well appointed and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The welcome bottle of prosecco was a nice surprise too! Mark and Alison were very helpful and gave us some good tips on things to do and places to eat. We would happily stay there again.

A warm and cosy cottage in the woods.

Perfect for a quiet and secluded retreat. You can walk out of the cottage into the most beautiful woods. There are waterfalls and walks around the loch. The cottage is small but very comfortable. I would recommend it to anyone who loves nature. We can’t wait to go again.

A beautiful, quiet retreat in historic Argyll.

The cottage is small but beautifully laid out with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Instructions given by hosts for entry were clear. It is the perfect place to switch off and enjoy the deep peacefulness of this corner of Scotland. It is located in woodland in the midst of a network of local walks. It is also within easy reach of many of Argyll’s historic and ancient sites.

Peaceful

Mark and Alison are great hosts. They go above and beyond to make your stay is very welcoming, peaceful and comfortable. This was my second stay at their cottage. It's the perfect getaway to do some soul searching. Hiking, walks, travelling to other costal towns were they are easy to get to from the cottage by car. There's also a bus stop on the main road if like me, you don't drive. Suitable for loan travellers. A romantic break or go with a friend. Their cottage has everything you need for a home from home. Having the log burner adds to the atmospheric surroundings of the beautiful Scottish countryside. I highly recommend their beautiful cottage. Thank you for your hospitality. Dream Holiday Coutryside Getaway

Alison and Mark, owners/hosts are amazing. Nothing was too much for them. I don't drive. Both offered to drive to the village to the shops if I needed anything. Their beautiful cottage had everything you need. An added bonus was a log burner, coal also provided. Bottle of prossecco as a welcome gift. Lovely surprise. The scenery is outstanding.. its a one bedroom rustic modern cottage. Also has heating installed. Instructions folder for all appliences and maps of the area and surrounding areas. All local amenities are alsovin the folder with emergency numbers too. There is a river which runs through just across from the cottage with use of their huge garde. Stunning forest trail set in a beautiful valley. Cant thank them enough for their hospitality. I highly recommend their beautiful cottage. Their house is next door which made me feel comfortable as I ravel on my own. Another added bonus is they except up to 2 pets too. I had my new cat and a friends dog with me.. Thank you Alison and Mark for making my childhood dream Christmas break come true.v

Glenbranter paradijsje

Je weet dat het weer in Schotland heel erg wisselvallig kan zijn en de midges hongerig. Wanneer je je tegen beiden wapent kun je in Glenbranter Cottage de vakantie van je leven hebben! Een prachtige plek, prima uitvalsbasis voor allerlei activiteiten in de omgeving, magische natuur (Puck's Glen!!!) rust, ruimte, vriendelijke mensen, heerlijk eten (wel even wennen aan de openingstijden/sluitingstijden van Tearooms en Inns en Restaurants), fantastische wandelingen zowel voor de avonturier als voor de bedaagde wandelaar. Wandelroutes goed en duidelijk aangegeven. Wij kijken op een geweldige vakantie terug. Oh ja de woning: knus, stil, schoon, voorzien van alles wat je nodig hebt, goede meubels en heel vriendelijke en behulpzame gastheer/vrouw. Mark kent de omgeving op zijn duimpje; hij is opgegroeid in en rond Glenbranter. Een absolute aanrader.

Perfect location

Loved the location and all the stunning walks directly from the cottage, wildlife was great and Mark gave us really useful tips. Take the Dunoon ferry to save travel time instead of driving round no booking needed, just drive on.
