"Atmospheric quirky hotel. Retains convent feel. Nice staff; good restaurant at night. Note it doesn’t do breakfast but good cafe nearby. No reception before noon. Good base for Bilbao - on commuter line to central station , one hour trip with regular trains ."

"What a lovely, unexpected surprise the Rio Ason was. First and foremost, the staff are amazing. From arrival Anna and rest of the team were so helpful, and genuinely friendly and happy to chat. The hotel itself is great - clean, quiet and modern, good sized room, secure off street parking, and a fantastic breakfast buffet. Ramales itself is a great little local town too, lots of lovely walks in the surrounding hills (and caves!), and a huge selection of local bars for refreshment afterwards! I can't recommend Rio Ason highly enough, and really looking forward to my next visit. Thank you team RioAson!"

They allowed us to check out a couple of hours later as we had struggled to get transport back from Bilbao, they also made us packed lunch (for a small fee) on departure even though the restaurant was closed. Couldn't recommend enough"

"Lovely house in serene countryside. It's some distance from Bilbao which was my target destination but the bus service was efficient and punctual. The one-mile walk from the property to the bus-stop was through an extremely peaceful woodland setting. Imanol was the perfect host.Assisted by Imanol's car I had no difficulty navigating the area & spending my evenings in friendly Gordexola so a hire car was not essential for me."
