This photo was taken just inside the Tennessee border. I had been staying at a cabin with my roommate and her family. We arrived at night at a time when I could not see the pond. When I woke up the next morning, we went outside and I was in awe of the beauty. It was bright, vibrant, and perfectly picturesque. The cabin we stayed in was hard to get to; it was on a one way gravel road up the side of a mountain. It is seemingly untouched, yet if I had turned the camera around, the viewer would notice power lines running up the side of the mountain. This picture seems to preserve the idea that Appalachia has not been touched by humans. #appalachianechoes

A beautiful waterfalls to relax and chill. Very easy hiking down the hill n hard to go back up.
This picture was taken inside the Tennessee border as well. It possesses many of the qualities that are present in the people of Appalachia. The walkway leading up around the corner seems to entice the viewer, it seems to say "follow me!" So many people associate the idea of travelling or journey with this region. It could be because of the Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking trails, or the seemingly endless sprawl of the mountains themselves. A part of the house is visible in the top right of the picture which is challenging the idea of "pure, untouched" land that many seem to associate with Appalachia. #AppalachianEchoes
This image was created on a slightly warmer day at a popular swimming area right outside of the North Carolina border and barely inside of Tennessee at Watauga Lake. The child in the image is placed within the yellow pipe border that is placed on the beach for people who decide to go swimming to have a sense of boundary on depth of the water and something to rest on if they get tired while in the water. #appalachianechoes
