New River New River flows from Exning, through Landwade, Burwell, Fordham and Wicken, where it becomes Monk's Lode, which joins to Wicken Lode. This photograph was taken from the Wicken footbridge, close to where it becomes Monk's Lode. This is the fen-edge, on the right is Guinea Hall Fen (part of the Wicken Fen National Trust National Nature Reserve) and to the left is Wicken village, which is slightly uphill.
