"This is the best hotel we have stayed in for some time. We were visiting Chester for the races so wanted somewhere near. We were not disappointed as it was less than 10 minutes walk to the race course gates, in fact our room overlooked a small part of the racecourse. We were able to check in slightly early and our room was great. Very light, spacious and clean. The bed was massive. It was super comfy and the air conditioning worked well. We had breakfast included and again what a lovely experience. We had a table by the window overlooking the racecourse. We were served at the table rather than it being the usual free for all buffet and there was a good choice. Would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again next time we visit Chester. The only slight niggle was when we arrived it was quite tricky finding the entrance to the car park as it wasn’t very well sign posted but it was a small thing and we soon forgot about it once we got in to the hotel. "

"The hotel is situated within easy walking distance of city centre shops, the cathedral and Chester racecourse. All the hotel staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The bedroom had everything required including coffee and tea making facilities. The restaurant offered a good breakfast and a good selection of meals for dinner. We also enjoyed a bit of time in the swimming pool. Excellent."

"Stayed here in November 2023 and the only issue then was the plug release in the bath was broken. We stayed again in the same room September 2024 and they have still not fixed the plug release I had to get a teaspoon and pry it open!! Apart from that the food is fantastic and service brilliant. Sad to see the Candal factory has gone under after 50 years. We will be back might try a different room next time. "
