Rising Sun is a peaceful mountain retreat located in the Mt. Mitchell Golf Course Community of Western North Carolina. (Golf course is currently closed) Nestled on 10 private wooded acres at 3,200 feet elevation, this home offers sweeping views looking up the South Toe River valley towards Roan Mountain Tennessee! Our home has modern amenities and convenient access to outdoor adventures. The South Toe/Mount Mitchell Lands area is 30 minutes from Burnsville, 1 hour from Asheville and 2 1/2 hours from Charlotte.

Take in stunning long-range views of Roan Mountain (TN) and the Black Mountain Range, including Mount Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. Enjoy the views from the covered deck, or unwind in the private hot tub, positioned perfectly for both sunrise and stargazing.

We clean, drain, and refill the hot tub with hot water after every stay. In the rare event it’s unavailable during your visit, a $15/night credit will be applied—there are not hot tub companies in the area, so repairs can take weeks sometimes.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! The cabin was cozy, beautifully maintained, and the views were stunning. My husband took advantage of the nearby hiking trails, the kids loved having their own space, and I enjoyed some much-needed relaxation with my books. It was the perfect getaway for our family. We can’t wait to come back!

Mountain Breezes

The house was perfect for us to enjoy the views and morning breezes, then close to the campground where we hung out for the day with family, then back to the cabin for a hot soak and good nights rest. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and the beds were very comfortable!

We had a great time at this fantastic property. The views were amazing and the covered porch was our favorite place to hang out. It was clean and very comfortably set up. Lovely home with a great view and great location for water fall hikes, mountain biking and driving the Blue Ridge Parkway. Beds were very comfortable, kitchen amply stocked with the basics and nice cookware. Plenty of room at the house and a great fire pit nearby. Loved our stay.

Perfect in every way!

This property was AMZING! The views are incredible, the proximity to many outdoor activities was ideal, and the house was very clean and comfortable. We had a group of friends stay here for a local trail race and it was a great house to host a big group and allowed everyone to have their own space. Cannot recommend this property enough!

The home has amazing views while still being convenient enough to visit town or Mt. Mitchell. This was the perfect weekend getaway for my wife and I. This was an amazing family vacation! The views from the back deck were breathtaking! Beautiful home, clean, cozy fireplace and fun hot tub!!! Lots of family board games and even fooseball table! Beautiful view and perfect location

I grew up coming to this area of North Carolina as a kid and I am so happy to a found this cabin to stay in with my whole family! The view is unbeatable and the house really had most of what we needed. There are many things to do around the area such as gem mining, going to waterfalls, tubing down the South Toe river and exploring the beauty of North Carolina. The house is great for kids as well. The host was really easy to work with and we will definitely be visiting again!
