Kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they made the entire experience feel personal without ever being intrusive. Their hospitality added something special to the stay. The food was outstanding. Dinner was rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and breakfast was just as impressive, with fresh, high-quality options that made for a perfect start to the day. Each meal felt intentional and well-crafted. And then there are the views. Whether looking out from the window in the early morning light or watching the sunset settle over the surrounding landscape, the setting is simply beautiful. It is peaceful, scenic, and deeply restorative. This is a place I would return to without hesitation, and one I would highly recommend to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and a truly memorable experience."

"For the price you pay, it’s not bad. The decor may need an update, but the pictures online are true to form. My only real gripe was the plastic mattress protector on the obviously new mattress- you’ll wake up in a pool of sweat in the middle of the night. Nevertheless, I still give my overall experience 5 stars because of the hotel’s staff. They went above and beyond to help me from restaurant reservations, what points of interest to see, and even printed several documents I needed for me. At the end of the day, a hotel is really just a fungible service - a bed to sleep in. The difference is service. I would definitely recommend. "

"Really good value hotel, especially for a solo traveller. Room was a decent size and was clean, staff were very helpful. Car park was a decent size but some of the parking was atrocious so I couldn’t always get a space. Only thing I would change is having a kettle - I did miss morning teas! "

"I stumbled upon Sombea during a trip through Southern Germany, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. The staff is helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is delicious. If I find that my travels take be back to the Schwarzwald, I will be staying at Sombea again."

"They took advantage of my illness and acted inhumanely. On the day of arrival at the hotel, I had food poisoning and vomited in the bathroom. At checkout, they charged me €900 for cleaning the bathroom. It was horrific and inhumane – even though the room was cleaned and we stayed there for a whole week, they claimed they would have to close it in order to clean it. Liars, exploiters, and inhumane."
