  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. L'hôtel est très bien situé. Tout à côté d'un des nombreux canaux de Bruges, il est à 200m des 1ers restaurants disposés le long des canaux. Exactement comme sur les cartes postales. Côté hygiène, l'hôtel est très propre. Depuis l'entrée dans l'établissement jusqu'au moment du petit déjeuner en pasant par les.chambres.et la salle de bain complètement désinfectée. Très agréable séjour.

Hotel bien situé mais le confort n'est pas au rdv

Hotel situé face à la rivière, la chambre n'est pas super propre (toile d'araignée au plafond), la baignoire est réparée à plusieurs endroits par du colmatage blanc, etc., le matelas est super mou, pas confort et dès que l'un bouge, l'autre est obligatoirement réveillé. Le + : Produits sanitaire à disposition. Dommage, qu'il n'y ait pas de bouteille d'eau à disposition.

It was a very nice location and it had a great breakfast buffet in the morning. Over all good place to stay and about 15 minutes walk to all the main attractions. It is 10 Euro from the train station by taxi. One thing concerning though, we had purchased train tickets to Paris as we arrived in Bruges for the following Sunday. However, even though the tickets went from the train station to our hotel room and not removed from there while we visited, they went missing. The night before leaving we noticed they were no longer in the room. What happened? We have no idea, but it might be a good idea to lock everything in the safe. If housekeeping throw away paperwork while cleaning, they should not do that and perhaps should be reminded of that. This would not stop us from going back there, it is a little gem on the canal and otherwise was a very good place to stay.

New year in Bruges👍

The staff are very friendly and helpful, either advising places to eat or making reservations for you. We would definitely stay there again. It’s a short walk to the city centre with great restaurants/ cafes close by. There parking can be tricky but the hotel have a fantastic parking garage just 2 minute walk from hotel, however advise you book a place.
