"The location to the castle is 2 nd to none. A 5 minute walk is all it takes to be at the castle. We booked for Bastille Day. Spent the day walking around . We had lunch then returned to 514 , showered and changed. Returned to the castle for supper . Watched the fireworks display which was breathtaking. "What a view! We were in Room 19 at the top of the property and the view of the walled city was spectacular! The room was spacious and comfortable, and VERY quiet. Two things to consider—-we were 50 steps up from reception. This is not a room for those who can’t handle stairs. There is no elevator, so you are carrying your suitcase up. Also, parking is outside the pedestrian area, so your car will be about two blocks from the door. You can drive in and park next to the hotel to load your bags, and that same situation may be available if you check in early. Parking is free in the lots next to the pedestrian section, so that is a plus."
"Hotel is around 40 mins up a hill from the centre of Carcassone and public transport to get there isn’t good. There isn’t much around there so if you don’t have a car be prepared to get a lot of steps in. The room itself could do with a renovation. "
