The very spacious (4 Star graded by Visit Wales) Top Floor is part of a large family home but is completely self contained which benefits from its own entrance, accessed via an outdoor staircase. It is brightly decorated with a quirky feel. Great views of the Brecon Beacons from the lounge, bedroom and balcony. There is an information/Reading room which has a telescope - for our Dark Sky Reserve, leaflets, maps and books on the local area with views looking across to the Black Mountains. There is also a Bat Detector for watching the bats come and go from the nearby Church.
Off the main entrance from the kitchen there is an outdoor balcony area with seating and table available for eating alfresco or just relaxing. On arrival there is tea, coffee, milk and a small loaf of bread included. Bed Linen, towels, kitchen necessities, toiletries and toilet rolls are all provided. Parking is on the drive at the front of the house just at the foot of the staircase.
Cantref is a peaceful parish of scattered farms and houses. Walking from the doorstep is in abundance to suit all levels - be it walking to the top of the highest point of the Brecon Beacons which is Pen y fan or more or less level walk into Brecon via the canal towpath. Lots of circular walks around the lanes too.
Brecon enjoys several festivals during the year, Brecon Jazz, Brecon Choir festival, Brecon Baroque festival. We are fortunate to have a cinema in Brecon as well as Theatre Brycheiniog which hosts a great variety of entertainments from Ballet to Opera or Drama to Comedy. Also, live screening from eg The National Theatre, London. The cathedral too hosts lunchtime concerts etc. Remember to that we are in a Dark Sky Reserve.
We try and meet our guests on arrival but afterwards you are left in peace! However, we are on hand should there be any queries, problems or help with any walks, cycle routes, scenic drives, places to eat etc.
