Disappointing cabin in the woods
This listing was not accurately advertised. We felt that there was a significant gap between what we were led to expect by the pictures and listing, and what we found when we arrived. It was clear that the house had not been cleaned properly in some time. We also felt it was quite overpriced, considering the price we paid per night and the amount we paid in service and cleaning fees almost doubled the cost per night. The owner on site was lovely and great to communicate with, though. In short - this property was too expensive and the photos make it look more beautiful than it is.

Nice spring break in Bow
We had a lovely time in Bow over spring break. We met our daughter who goes to school at WWU for a few days, and Bow was perfect place to stage our trips to Port Townsend and Orcas Island ferry trips. Nancy was a gracious host who met us to give us some short details on house and heating, but otherwise was not in sight the entire stay.

Great stay
My partner and I had a great time here - we're from Seattle so it was a relaxing way to spend the weekend. The folks and their son who own the property (and next door at a separate unit) are friendly, jovial, and gladly assist with anything you need. Thanks!

As advertised. (Read between the lines!)
I know it looks odd to rate all of the questions on a review as OK, but then an overall rating of Good. This "interesting" add-on to a residential compound is about the only place anywhere at this value, where everyone can have their own bed. There are 8, plus the couch. And it's awesome to have so much space for 7 or 8 people to lounge about - plenty of sitting and counter space. For those of us who happen to live out in the woods off the beaten path, it felt fine, but I can see where it might feel a little off to folks who aren't used to that. Most folks wouldn't notice the odd construction, but for the few of us close to the building trade, we got a bit of entertainment out of some of the choices. (Other reviews assured everyone that the electrical is all to code) We might have overlooked much of the funkiness, if it weren't for the first impression of turning on the kitchen oven right away, to the house filling up with chemical smell. We realized that someone had placed a sheet of foil in the bottom of the oven, over the top of a big sign that reads Do Not Use Foil. We debated mentioning this, but decided it's important enough that perhaps someone else might avoid the same thing in another situation. (It definitely won't happen at this location again!) Our birding group was actually very comfortable for our two nights, and the hosts were very kind and welcoming, and responsive. The place is well outfitted for all the cooking we did - once the oven aired out! There is definitely a feeling of being in the middle of someone's yard - I wouldn't want to spend time outdoors there. But for a winter stay, it was fine for what we were doing. There could be more signage. For our 2nd carload that arrived ahead of the main renter, they were unsure where to park, where the entrance was, and which was actually the house. They were hesitant to explore too far, as the first place they parked, there were signs which were clearly less than welcoming! We still would recommend this place for the right people!

Below average
We were fairly disappointed with this rental. Once we arrived, we found out that a family lives on the first floor of the house. The owners live on the main floor with a connecting door to the "guest house rental", the "housekeeper" lives in her section at the opposite end of the main floor and there are 2 more renters on the back of the property through a gate. We felt like we rented an apartment! The stairs were a tripping hazard as was the first floor bathroom with a 14 inch step up platform. The kitchen light was only accessible via a plug in cord which I was barely able to reach! We would not rent this place again and were disappointed to say the least.

Great place in Bow
This is a great place to stay in Bow. It is a beautiful place. It is fairly remote so once you are there you really don't want to leave. There are lots of games and it is a beautiful place for walks or sitting outside. The one downside is the number of stairs it is not hard to negotiate unless you are elderly (we had my 87 year old mom and her sister). I felt like I needed to be right there when my mom was negotiating the stairs to go upstairs. We could have had her on the main floor, but there is a stair to access the bathroom on the main floor also. I highly recommend it for families and friends.

Great Accommodations in the woods
Although rural, the lodge is not far from amenities in Bow, Sedro Woolley, and Burlington. There are many outdoor recreations activities in this area including the Puget Sound--too many to address here. The owners and their pets are on-site but that adds to the ambiance and friendly atmosphere. The 3 bedroom, 2 bath lodge worked out quite well for my family (including two grandchildren) during a four day visit for a wedding. Everyone was comfortable and happy. Late risers or nappers could escape the commotion since the bedrooms are upstairs. The lodge is rustic with wood/log beams, river cobble walls and comfortable furnishings. It's modern kitchen has a gas range, coffee pot, toaster, and microwave. We loved the large coffee mugs, ample sized bowls and plenty of dishes. The two bathrooms are roomy with walk-in showers. There is one on each floor which was great. There is no oven but the owner is happy to share hers. It is stocked well with sheets, towels, and plenty of beds. The grounds are well maintained and the place is surrounded with lawn and large trees. Parking is near the entrance. We hope to stay again the next time we are in Washington.

Perfect group retreat
Nancy and Tim's lodge and gorgeous property was the perfect location for my group of 12 adults to spend a weekend together in retreat. 4 of us slept inside (though there was enough bed space for at least 3 more) and the more outdoorsy folks pitched tents all across the property. We all had privacy, while the kitchen/living area was large enough to host all of us comfortably. We went to sleep with owls singing, and woke up to the raven song. Our group is a group of herbal/plant enthusiasts, so we spent an afternoon walking the property and learning about the wild PNW plants that grow there. Evening by the fire was perfect too. Nancy and Tim were available for great conversations and I loved hearing their amazing life story - they also gave us plenty of privacy. I would love to go back for a weekend away with girlfriends, a family get together, or even an outdoorsy romantic getaway. The price for what you get here is incomparable, I couldn't be more pleased. Thank you Nancy and Tim!

Quiet Rural Location
We stayed over Labor Day weekend 2018. We were traveling with our adult children and a 1 year old. We have a daughter who lives in the area, and we were there to surprise her. We had a nice visit and really enjoyed the large yard and beautiful surroundings. Evenings were spent playing frisbee or ball in the yard. Everything we needed was there. Nancy and her family are very nice. The dog is very friendly and enjoyed us in the yard as much as we enjoyed him.

Rustic, quiet place to relax!
This cabin has a rustic European vibe. The rooms are upstairs and each have a nice deck outside of them. The area is quiet and away from the beaten path. The owner is very sweet and felt like a family member before we left. It is important to note that this is a rustic, two story cabin and it is not meant for those who can’t climb stairs. The downstairs bathroom has a large step up as well. It was fine for all of us, except one senior who did fine with a helpful hand. There are two bathrooms and you can have both showers going at the same time and still have hot water. Make sure you check that the electric water heater is clicked on because hot water is on demand and we didn’t read the instructions and got cold showers on the first day! Lol! Another thing to mention is the gravel road. The county road ends and you have a mile of gravel, so don’t think you are lost! Keep going! We didn’t check out Bow, but heard it was a cute town. We had a wedding to attend 30 minutes away in Mount Vernon. If you want a very rustic, quiet place that can sleep up to 10 comfortably (pullout couch bed, two queen beds, 4 twin beds), this is the place for you!!
