Beautiful and Cozy Cottage with Hot Tub close to Snæfellsnes National Park

Holt is a perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at Snæfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano Grábrók, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital Reykjavík with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this cozy cottage in Helluskógur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The lodge was built in a traditional, Icelandic summerhouse way. It is well constructed and insulated. It is warm and cozy all year round with all necessities and comfort. The house has an open kitchen-living room area. In the kitchen there is all the tableware and equipment you need for cooking, baking, and serving a lovely meal. The living room has a great corner sofa and a large flat screen TV . The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with great quality beds. Free WIFI.

On the large terrace is a nice hot tub that fits up to 6 people, barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The terrace is perfect for serving a good meal and relax in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by a birch forest, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

Wonderful stay-we Called it our “cozy cottage”

We loved our stay at this cottage in Iceland. It was a perfect spot for our exploring to Snæfellsnes. The cottage was wonderfully equipped with everything we needed and all instructions were clear and easy to follow. We settled right in. My teenager loved the loft and having the cool windows. Iceland is a long way from home for us but we would come back in a heartbeat.

Lovely rustic cabin

Loved this house

Cabin was exactly as described. Although small by US standards, it was plenty of space for our family of 5, including 3 teenage boys. The info and communication from the hosts were excellent, including detailed directions and access instructions. Good location for access to Snaefxxxx peninsula. Especially appreciated the hot tub after a long day of sightseeing. Thanks!

Lovely Stay

A beautiful end to our week in Iceland. The house is spotless, the beds are extremely comfortable, and the hot tub is amazing! Nicely tucked away in the countryside.

Fun and relaxing time in nature

After being in Reykjavik, we came out to the Borgarnes area to relax and be closer to nature and the Snaefellsnes peninsula area. This little cabin was perfect for that! Felt remote, but was near everything we needed, and the views were so lovely.

Great location with beautiful views, the perfect home base to explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and the amazing Hvammsvik Hot Springs! Great communication, easy access and we loved all the amenities (washer)!!! Was everything we hoped for and more. Thank you for sharing this great space!

Fantastic cabin

Perfectly remote and cozy! I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy sleeping in but the land was calling to us. Terrific house manual sent ahead of booked stay takes all the guess work out of using the property. There are adjacent properties but separated by heavy vegetation. We slept very comfortably. I could see a small family enjoying this space too. The views of the mountains are super from the big windows and on the deck.

We loved the layout of the cabin- it was perfect forOur needs!

We had a great stay and Heidi and Rob were excellent to work with. They were very quick to respond via email before our trip and they provided excellent information about the cabin (directions, how to use features, etc.). We loved the location as it provided access to things that we wanted to see. Highly recommend!

Fantastic summerhouse

Great location near to Borganes but off the main road and secluded in the trees. All the required facilities for a midsummer night with the obligatory hot tub. We will be back perhaps in Winter next time

Peaceful, cozy retreat within easy range of spectacular glaciers and coastline

We spent four very enjoyable days at this great getaway house. Quiet, clean and well-supplied with very accommodating and easily contacted owners. Easy drives to Snaefellsjokull, the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, Langjokull and the food at the Hotel Budir. Exactly the place we like for combining active outdoor activities with a relaxing hot tub and a "cozy cottage". Highly recommended.

Very cozy and peaceful setting

Lots of space for 5 of us, and not too far from the Snaefellsnes Peninsula... our guys loved the hot tub, and it made a great base for the Borgarnes area. Heidi was very responsive, and generous with local tips. No luck on the Northern Lights, but some lovely starry skies.

Another Great Stay in Borganes!

This was my family's second stay at this sweet cottage outside of Borganes. We love it here. A peaceful and cozy home with every amenity needed. Heidi is very easy to communicate with. Great recommendations for activities and restaurants at the home. I'm sure we'll be back again soon!

Comfortable Cottage in Nature

Beautiful home in the Icelandic countryside. We stayed for a week with 6 children and had a great and memorable time. The home was comfortable and there was plenty to do in the yard and area. I was able to do some trail running around the cottage and by the beautiful river. Our favorite part within driving distance was the Snæfellsness peninsula! Robert was great in helping us during our stay. I would recommend this place. Thank you!

Well kept, clean house

We enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well stocked, and we used the grill both nights - it was great. The hot tub is well kept and out of the wind. The beds were smaller than we expected, and we did not care for the pillows at all, they were too flat. Be careful with the front steps - they are very small and slanted. We appreciated the extra towels and the comfortable couch with tv setup. We recieved a lot of really helpful information from our hosts for things to do in the area. Thank you!

Cozy cottage

This property was just as pictured, and the birch forest has grown quite a bit since the photos were taken. Mountain views, birds and the sound of the wind through the trees were all very peaceful. If you are driving a small car you may be surprised that the road to reach the cottage is unpaved and a bit Rocky. It is approximately 5 km from a paved road but no problem at all if a small car drives slowly. Our family had a lovely time and enjoyed seeing a mink exploring it's way through the wildflowers. Delightful!

So cozy…the perfect place for weary travelers

We stayed here for two nights during our travels to the west part of Iceland. This was our base for our day trip to the snaefellsnes peninsula. Arrival was smooth, the cottage was immaculate, and the beds and furniture were all so comfortable for our family of four. The kitchen was well outfitted and we even cooked a quick meal there on our second night. The cooking basics were there (seasonings, oil, etc). We used the hot tub one night, which was lovely after a long day of travel. Directions to the cabin were very clear and specific, but I am still glad it was light out when we arrived (we were there during June). Might have been harder to find in the dark. Hosts were lovely and I appreciate them sharing their home with us while we were traveling. I highly recommend this spot!

It was nice, but so small

Pluses Clean, great hot tub, grill, washer with fast spin for drying clothes. Great views of the sunset. Feels safe and secure. Nice check-in directions. Bedrooms super small, but the beds were comfortable. We stayed at this location as a family of 4 adults - super small - would be fine for an adult couple with children. The loft had a very low ceiling. Even on knees, ceiling height not adequate at peak for headroom. Ok for only for sleeping - except for noise (open) and light as living room had blinds missing and no black-out curtains in the rental. Bring eye masks if light wakes you up. We got a flat - road coming in - it is long and very bumpy. Overall OK stay

It was a very clean, cosy house with nothing missing. We immediately felt at home and enjoyed it.

We have been as a couple (25 & 27 years old) 1 week in the house. We were there at the beginning of December and were really lucky with the weather. They found the house well and there was nothing missing. The heating worked well, the couch was very comfortable and the highlight was of course the Jacuzzi, which we used every evening. The bed was super comfortable and the house is perfect for 2 people of this size. In the village Borgarnes there is a super bakery, a delicious pizzeria and a nice restaurant. Even when we once had a problem, the landlords were immediately reachable by phone and took care of everything. Apart from that everything went off without a hitch! We will gladly come back!!!

it worked

Somehow we didn't fully read everything. The bedrooms are very small. We thought we had a queen bed, but it ended up being a double (we have a king bed at home so this was a struggle). The closet space was very limited. The showering situation had to be very organized and quick as the hot water runs out very quickly. The place was cute, and the owners are very nice. It was just hard with 4 people. The hot tub was good and the bbq grill came in handy once I called the owner for instructions. There were only 2 TV stations (we ended up playing cards most nights). We enjoyed Bargarnes and Iceland in general.

Lovely, well cared for property

Just returned from a wonderful Iceland holiday where we stayed for nine nights at this cottage. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need and the hot tub is a joy after a days sight seeing. We loved the comfortable sofa and enjoyed watching our DVDs on the TV late into the night. One plea, no kettle meant we had to boil water in a pan to make tea, but maybe that's because we're British! Also, no oven tray meant using the oven was difficult because there was nothing to cook on and everything has to balance on the oven racks. That said, fantastic area with amazing sights although be prepared to travel quite a bit to see everything, 1-2 hours. You also need to be organised with food as a few miles outside Borgarnes. We didn't have great weather, the outside table and BBQ didn't get any use as simply too cold and wet. I can only assume that Iceland does have some warm and sunny days occasionally! Highly recommend the cottage, very comfortable.
