I stayed at Hôtel Cardinal in Bordeaux from 21st–23rd April and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience, especially given the high price. Both nights, the room was uncomfortably hot as the air conditioning did not work at all. It was 27° outside. The in-room phone was also faulty and would lose power within seconds, making it impossible to contact reception without going downstairs.
On the first night, I had very little sleep due to the heat and was then woken early by cigarette smoke and loud noise coming from an enclosed terrace below, which travelled directly into the room. After a long day of business meetings, I returned the second night to the same issue. A staff member confirmed the air conditioning was not working in any rooms. I was initially offered a move, then told it wasn’t possible. I asked about a refund but received no response.
I have since contacted the hotel twice and received no reply. For the price paid, this was unacceptable.
