"In diesem Häuschen ist alles vorhanden.Grill mit Grillkohle, Heissluftfriteuse, Kaffeemaschine, Filtertüten, Kaffee, Kaffeepads...Duschzeug, Rasierzeug, Grundausstattung Medikamente,Spielzimmer mit Dart und Kicker...Hunde erlaubt...Super freundlich und hilfsbereit.Brötchen wurden morgens gebracht "weil wir Müssen am Wochenende auch für die Kinder holen".Wir wurden für einen Konzertbesuch in die Stadt gefahren und dort auch wieder abgeholt...Einfach wunderbar.Könnte man mehr Sterne vergeben würde ich das machen."

"The reception staff were not friendly at all. Room was located in a building about 1/10 of a mile down the road from the main hotel. No assistance with luggage. No amenities in that building, however, the room was clean and very large. Be warned, there is NO air conditioning in the rooms. We were there mid-June and it was over 80°F in the room when we went to sleep! No top sheets, just a heavy comforter, seems to be a Europe thing."

"I was in a double room overlooking the Rhein, with a balcony, though if leaving the door to the balcony open it did get a little noisy, though I probably wouldn't have noticed it had I not been travelling solo. There was a small fridge in the room suitable for cooling drinks, storing medication etc. There was no kettle, though to be fair I didn't ask for one either - so they may be available? Housekeeping undertaken on a daily basis. The hotel entrance is directly opposite the kiosk for the Lorely Line - short river trips, with some commentary in German, English and Chinese (on the trip I took). A typical buffet breakfast available. All of the staff I had contact with were very pleasant and helpful. The hotel is a short walk from the station - around half a mile - took me 10 minutes (in either direction) with a significant lung complaint reducing my stamina."

"We were looking for a home base for a few days while visiting picturesque towns along the Rhine and Moselle rivers, Rhens seemed like a quiet little town near the train and bus services, and one of its rare hotels is Akzent Hotel Roter Ochse. Built in 1699, we expected the hotel to show some age, but our room, upper right on the top floor, was fully renovated, clean, and quiet. We found it modest but enchanting. The hotel is run by a third generation hotelier with family on site. All of our requests and questions were met with calm competence by every single person we engaged. We felt supported, not just "served" by them. Management is simply top notch. Due to our daily travel schedules, we did not eat at the Roter Ochse's restaurant, but based on the unique look of the facility and the wonderful smells emanating from it each morning, it was our loss. Imagine taking breakfast on an indoor/outdoor restaurant patio bound on one side by a 6 century old town wall. Note that there is no elevator in this three century old building. If stairs are an issue, try to book on the ground or lower floor. We loved Hotel Roter Ochse and the town of Rhens. We're already dreaming of returning some day. Rooms: 5"
