"We had a lovely stay overall. We visited for one night and were kindly given a complimentary upgrade to a lodge room, which was a really thoughtful touch. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout, and the breakfast was excellent. I’m unable to comment on the evening dining or spa facilities as we didn’t use them—unfortunately I couldn’t access the spa due to being pregnant—but they looked fantastic from what we saw and from the photos. The only downside was the cleanliness, which didn’t quite meet expectations. When we checked in, there were dead bugs on the bed and side table, and quite a few cobwebs in the outdoor area of the lodge, which meant we didn’t use the seating outside. At breakfast, we also noticed dead flies on the windowsills, which isn’t what you’d expect from a hotel of this standard. That said, everything else about our stay was great, and we would return. It just felt like the cleaning standards may have slipped slightly during the weekend we visited."

"All excellent ! Only disapointment on this visit was checking in , there was only one person on reception and it was about 15.10 pm when I had to wait about 25 minutes to check in because there was a group of tourists checking in together. At that time of day there should have been more than one person on reception !"
Abbey House Hotel

"This hotel holds memories for us so it was nice to return for a special occasion 6 years after our first visit. We booked a suite which was in one of the turrets at the back of the building and had lovely views over the garden from the huge wrap-around windows. The on-site restaurant, Oliver's, is really nice and the food is delicious! It's very reasonably priced too for the quality you get and have a great cocktail and wine list. It's a really nice atmosphere whether you're sat in the bar, restaurant or orangery area and the staff are friendly and attentive, but not constantly hovering so you can enjoy your meal without feeling watched over. We look forward to returning to Abbey House in another 6 years!"

"We have stayed at this hotel several times & as usual staff were friendly & hotel lovely. Room was immaculate with everything we needed. Breakfast delicious with good choice of food. Only slight issue was poor shower. Wouldn’t stop us returning though !"

"Nice hotel. Great seating outside on the lake and in conservatory- would be better if more seating in conservatory. Pub/bar area itself is very dark and dingy. Seats outside the bar area were nice but not enough - some of the drinks were dear -£16 for a large wine! Food in brasserie was nice and staff nice too. Parking free at the hotel and very close to the lake boats snd train. Lovely place near the lake and would stay there again if in area."

"Lovely hotel, very well situated and very friendly staff. Our room was located outside of the main building with private parking right outside. We also had a small private seating area outside which was really nice. The room had everything we needed aside from shower gel so make sure to bring your own!"

"We stayed in a chalet which was beautiful with a private hot tub not over looked. Very clean, very helpful staff . Beautiful hotel. Lovely breakfast."
