"We loved this hidden gem. It was so clean, and the property was beautiful. It was perfect after being in Glacier National Park all day. We would 100% stay here again! It had a cabin feel to it and was so cool to stay on a ranch."
"What a treat to stay where you take a few steps from the hotel to the lake and view the mountains and scenery--no need to drive, although there are beautiful sights within driving distance and wonderful hiking trails that allow you to get even closer to the beautiful scenery.
We stayed in a double bed room on the basement/lake floor. Special treat to have a second door with screen door that opened to the lake side of the hotel. This part of the hotel has an elevator for which we were grateful, especially after viewing all the stairs both inside and out. The room was comfortable with fan and even a small desk.
We took the hotel tour offered each afternoon. Our tour guide was interesting and shared much of the history of how the hotel was built, remodeled and remodeled again--had a notebook of pictures that helped understanding of the changes over the years.
We ate in the Ptagmigan Dining Room for breakfast--the breakfast continental breakfast met our needs. Lunch and dinner were enjoyed in the Swiss Lounge. There is also a small store on the lake level of the hotel which sells snacks, drinks and other food options. Staff in all hotel locations were friendly and helpful.
Excellent choice IF you can get a reservation!"
"We love to visit NP lodges and Lake McDonald lodge did not disappoint. The staff from check-in to check-out were friendly, very helpful and always listening for ways to make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. We ate onsite at the Fireside Dining Room and Lucke's Lounge--food cooked to our request, service consistent, and prices reasonable considering location. The lobby is inviting with the beautiful lantern lights, the fireplace with etched stone and a variety of comfortable seating. And most important, the views inside the lodge and outside are outstanding.
Our accommodation was a small cabin and we enjoyed looking out our door and seeing a path to the lake.
We took the Western Alpine Red Bus tour which is a great way to see the western side of Going To The Sun Road without driving. Jammer Bill provided humor and fun as he shared the history of the road."
"Older charming chalet. Was original headquarters for the park is what a tour guide told us. Room was nice, staff great and had breakfast in the AM to go. Would definitely stay again."
"We had a nice room inside the lodge room. Room number 22 was nice and we could drive right up to the steps and it was upstairs so we did not hear downstairs noise. The bar in the lodge is totally empty expect for Thursday to Sunday so it’s basically a large empty room where you can get tea and coffee. It would be nice if there were events or activities or the bar was open during the week"
"Stayed in the westside rooms, facing the road.
It’s a single room, with bathroom.
Very Clean room , comfy bed, but NOISY!
The walls are really thin, so you hear your neighbors easily. You will hear showers running and toilets flushing.
Just across the street from the main lodge, so easy to get meals, drinks, do some souvenir shopping.
Super bonus: the Red Bus tour picks up at the lodge, and you can walk to the GNP gate.
Parking is just outside your room, and you hear all traffic going by.
Great location, especially if you are going into the park!!!
Get a room in the lodge if possible."
"A fantastic little resort just off West Glacier. Everyone at the resort was so chill and easy. We also did a white water rafting trip, and had a blast. Highly recommended."
"Highly recommend Glacier Guides Lodge for your stay in West Glacier. We’ve visited 21 national parks so far and have stayed at a variety of accommodations near the parks and I will say this is definitely going to be a favorite. It’s close enough to the park that you can easily get to the entrance, but also far enough away that it still felt peaceful and super quiet. The rooms were very clean and extremely comfortable. There is a complimentary continental breakfast and we loved the sitting area outside our room. On one night we grabbed a pizza and bottle of wine in town and enjoyed sitting outside in the cool mountain air to relax after a day of hiking. Overall a 5/5 stay!"
