"Hotel was amazing! A hidden gem if you are searching for location, safety, cleanliness, and proximity to Gothic Qtr, Las Ramblas, and the Port. Our room “balcony double”was spotless. Bed and bathroom was superb. Room was very large by European standards. The staff were friendly, efficient and courteous. The quaint hotel truly was soundproof and we loved the pool. Paul at the front desk was extremely helpful, courteous and went way above expectations helping us book last minute tickets to Palace of Music and our taxi to the Port. Best experience ever! We hope to return again. The photos are of the beautiful, historical atrium. The hotel has no big sign out front but GPS was exact."

"Lovely stay at Hotel 1898. We were celebrating my birthday and were welcomed in the room with a bottle of Prosecco and cake, which was a lovely surprise. Hotel is very clean and has a great bar on the roof terrace. Lovely people staying there as well. Ideal hotel for couples and solo travellers. Would definitely stay there again."

"We loved this hotel, the staff, the location and the size of the room and bathroom. What I was surprised by is that they didn’t have any cups, tea or coffee in the room. I had to go downstairs in my pajamas to eat my girlfriend’s wake up cup of coffee each morning and I went without my wake up tea. They did have a vending machine for 1.75 euros I was able to purchase a gourmet cappuccino which was ok. I just feel they missed the personal touch on this. We would stay at this hotel again."

"I have stayed in a number of hotels in Europe and the USA and this hotel is one of the best I have stayed at. It’s clean, comfortable, has a great shower, a private balcony, and everything worked. Breakfast was delicious and the sky bar was a pleasant place to spend a hour to watch the sunset with a drink. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It’s location is ideal and I would stay again when I am next in Barcelona"
