Biertan is one of the hundreds of villages in Transylvania that brag about fortified  churches built between the 13th and 16th centuries. Read more about the anatomy of a fortified church here;

While I found the church in Biertan a bit overrated the view makes up for everything. The church is currently closed because it's undergoing restoration.
