"Likes The staff were lovely. They were very accommodating and provided all the requests made. The breakfast was very tasty, and my partner was recommending it to our friends (which is a big thing). The room size was good. It's spacious (however, the shower room was a little snug). The room looked exactly like the photos, so that is a plus. We had dinner at the pub with our friends, everyone enjoyed their meal and I really liked the live band. We were singing the songs. Not so great There was no air conditioning (we stayed during a heatwave), which was very concerning for me. I would like to add that the staff provided me a fan, which I really appreciated The room was tidy. But I am a neat feak, so seeing spiderwebs wasn't ideal. Overall, I would recommend the place. I really liked the water feature near the car park. "

"Lovely hotel, friendly staff, very nice room and excellent food. Great breakfast and evening meal was fantastic. Was a little slow to get food in the evening but well worth the wait and others I chatted to in restaurant agreed. "

"The tree inn is a beautiful 13th century house in a lovely part of bude . Very clean inside and out. The host Simon is a friendly guy who will go the extra mile to make sure your stay is perfect. Would definitely recommend. 10/10 "

"I was impressed with the lady who ran the hotel that night. She checked me in, instructed me where to park my car, advised where to get dinner because they didn't provide evening meals, served my drink in the bar, laid my table for my brought in take away dinner and then cleared up and still managed to do some cleaning. She made my evening very easy and pleasant. I couldn't ask for more. "

"I have not stayed here for years and was surprised to see that its still a Brend Hotel ( family hotel). I went for breakfast and it was a traditional waiter service breakfast eg you are shown to a table, another waiter takes your order, you choose the items you want and its freshly cooked ( no food sitting under a heated light)"

"I found The Royal & Fortescue to be a lovely comfortable place to stay in the centre of Barnstaple very close to all amenities including the bus station which was so handy for getting to other near by attractions. The hotel is very clean and welcoming. We had a really nice relaxing stay and if in Barnstaple again would be more than happy to stay again."
