This photo attempts to capture the essence of Appalachia by framing it as both traditional and modern. The convenience store featured in the image was originally built in the 1950's. Since then the store has changed owners many times, but it remains one of the only stores on 321 from Boone to Blowing Rock. The shop is a self-proclaimed "everyday farmers market," where old fashioned farm produce and products can be purchased. Simultaneously, the store is a modernized gas station, partnered with Citgo, where cars filled with tourists can stop for fuel and commercial goods. #appalachianechoes
