A great little hotel if you want to use the DBB station and not the SBB. Huge room, clean and comfortable. Eating options are great at the station across the road.

Royal hotel

Staff were amazing, helpful and friendly, checkin easy, only slight issue was the fold down bed mattress was very thin and had metal bars prodding through when you lay down for the 4th person in our room, great to get our Basel travel cards too, location brilliant so overall highly recommended

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Hotel was centrally located. Staff was helpful with accessing city transportation. Breakfast was nice. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Awesome staff and place to stay

The young lady at the front desk was extremely helpful to us, and offered us directions to the city. It was so nice to have the transport pass even though we had Swiss Rail passes that we could have used, but hat was a very nice touch. The room was so nice and large and the bed was fantastic!!!!! It was quite and very well positioned in the city. Love this place!

Its excellent. The room design is minimalist with appropriate and useful amenities its very spacious , it spotless, bed and pillows are great. It smelled clean and fresh, the staff are awesome and very helpful! Jizelle and Katie especially. We would stay here again .

Restaurant next door serves pizza, pizza, and pizza. Total lodging bill ended up $45 higher than quoted online. Facility is fine, that’s as far as it goes.

Not being able to easily leave suitcases at reception , because it’s more like serviced rooms than a hotel was difficult but being able to check in at 12 and access our room straight away was really good .

Traveling from Canada, we found Basel to be quite expensive. That said, Royal Hotel provided really good value for money. It was professionally run, the self check-in was easy, and being across the street from transit was very convenient. The unit was small, but very clean and as advertised. There were 5 of us (two adults and three teen children) and had a good sleep. It was nice to have a (small) work area too. We'd stay again!

Room was a bit dated and it felt like I was the only guest! No front desk staff in the evening - had to get in outside via a machine which was a little unnerving. In the morning the front desk attendee was very polite and helpful

Very loud and the building was shaking throughout the night as the hotel is directly across from the German train station. unsure what bit me overnight (10 bites), but it wasn’t a mosquito. Front desk was staffed with very welcoming and helpful people! We appreciated the Basel card that provided free transportation and half off museums. Loved the city of Basel, but would not stay here again.

Loved the fantastic views from the balcony, and the bed was comfortable, but wish the sofa bed was better. Our daughter has bad hips so our sleeping arrangements had to be adjusted to accommodate her. Convenient location near Coop and Basel BB train station, but a bit far from everything else. On the expensive side for what you're getting, but I understand prices are higher during Fasnacht. The shower was terrible - intermittent intervals of cold water throughout every shower, lasting a minute or more each time, made the shower experience unpleasant.The staff was fantastic and helpful, however.
