"Our stay at Abbey Farm was just amazing! I was over with a group of Italian students to learn more about English life and culture, and their experience in this beautiful, historical house was perfect. "The front of the house was not welcoming with a lot of dirty cobwebs around the window and door.The front door opened into the main living room which is the selling point of the property, it does have a wow factor with ingle nook fireplace and oak beamed walls but the sofas are old and uncomfortable and the large rug is very faded and rucks up and becomes a tripping hazard.The kitchen and bathroom are very dated (80s) and needing a complete refurbishment. "The owners were exceptionally accommodating to my requests and excellent with communication. The property presented exactly as the photos. My only suggestion would be a full length vanity mirror possibly hung/mounted on the front of one of the bedroom doors. Also a small lamp or standing lamp in the living room for a warmer ambiance. "The hotel is located in the wonderful setting of Ickworth Park. Lots of fantastic walks and no traffic to disturb the tranquility of the countryside. We usually stay in the Premier Inn in Bury St Edmunds when visiting our son but, surprisingly, that chain is now outpricing itself against much more superior hotels such as this one. The bedroom retained all its charm of a bygone age including what appeared to be some of the original antique furniture. We had a wonderful view overlooking the gardens. Breakfast was excellent. Plentiful parking. Highly recommended."
