Great location close to Bar Harbor & other activities but far enough away from the crowds. Great views from the deck overlooking the water.

This little cabin was the perfect getaway for my husband and I. Peter was so helpful-giving us great suggestions and guiding us as navigating to Bar Harbor for the first time. The canine was fully stocked, super cozy and the view was spectacular. The morning sunrise was glorious. The location was perfect for our stay the area to fully explore Acadia. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The cabin is beautiful, right on the water. It's rustic and I wouldn't want to explore MDI in other way! We had a baby with us, but his afternoon naps and early morning risings. were much more enjoyable with the beautiful view from the cabin.

Views off the porch were stunning, The place was super cute and rustic as we expected. Great location and our favorite restaurants were all very near by. The shower however is like bathing with a straight jacket on...maybe worse than that. That is the only reason we would not return.

Loved the cabin - it was perfect for our family. We were happy to be out of town and on the water, beds were comfy and the cabin clean. Had enough pots and pans, utensils to cook meals.

Our family loved this little cabin - while tiny, it had all we needed and was truly the perfect location to explore Acadia and Mount Desert Island. We enjoyed the drive to and from the park and Bar Harbor. We also loved having Sweat Pea's and C-Rays so close and ate at Sweat Pea's twice! The lovely view, my daily yoga and coffee on the deck, the direct access to the stairs down to the shore, exploring the shore and water during low tide; we truly loved the stay. Thanks for sharing the chalet!!

Host communicated with us throughout the visit. Enjoyed the location. Only complaint would be the shower head. A new one would do wonders.

Cozy little cottage on the lake! We greatly enjoyed our home away from home. It is tiny but it was just what we needing in a landing pad for our day hiking trips in beautiful Acadia. There were some plumbing issues while we were staying there, but Peter got right on fixing it.

Beautiful property with water views and convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia. We thought it was perfect for two but could also comfortably fit a family of 4-5. Peter was responsive and provided many useful recommendations to make our stay more enjoyable. Kitchen is well equipped. We would certainly stay again when in the area.

We prefer to stay away from the congestion, most destinations have. We choose Cabins like this. Peace, quiet, Scenic. Grandkids loved going down to the Rocky Beach.
Spruce Cabin is comfy, good Beds, about everything you need. A little more Rustic, than the pics reflect.... but not at all a bad thing.
Instant communication with Owner, good guy!

Great place to stay overlooking beautiful view of Frenchmen Bay. Very clean and rustic cabin accompanied by high quality sheets and down comforter. Comfortable beds. Very good wi fi. Very attentive and responsive host. Quiet and restful environs 15 mins from the hub bub of bar harbor. Aldo short drive to Acadia. You can watch sunrise from the deck. And see it set down the road at Hadley Point.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Spruce Chalet at Shore Haven. The chalet was simple, comfortable, quiet, in a beautiful setting, and convenient. It was perfect for us. We were vacationing with friends who were camping nearby, and also had friends visit for part of the week. This place fit our needs quite well. Communication with the owner about accessing and using the chalet was excellent. It was convenient to the island bus route and points around Bar Harbor and Acadia, but out of the hubbub. It was a wonderful place to spend the week.

The good:
1. The view of the lake is great with really nice sunrises.
2. The host is the next house over and responds very quickly to questions and requests.
3. The sky lights in the bedrooms are a nice touch.
Improvements:
1. The bedding and sheets are stained and need to be replaced.
2. The couch needs to be replaced. It seems really old and is not comfortable.
3. The cabin is aged and could use a freshen up throughout on the inside and out.

We had a wonderful family vacation at Spruce. The house is secluded but the steps lead right down to the bay. The house is a rustic cabin with 2 bedrooms. The bedding is very comfortable. The bathroom is small but the Rinnai placed right above the shower provides for plenty of hot water. The views of the bay from the deck are killer. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and it was clear he cares about his guests and will address any issues should they arise. Great house!

Spruce Chalet was everything we needed it to be, while spending a brief period of down time with our son between his final exams and college graduation from RPI, as he enjoyed hiking familiar trails from past vacations. The cabin was just as described, cozy, comfortable, and clean, the consummately perfect place to rusticate on Mount Desert Isle. Take a book, enjoy the views, and make the most of one of the best National Parks in the eastern United States. Thanks to Peter for his exceptional communication.

Peter was such a kind host. We had a wonderful stay in his clean, rustic cabin. The seaviews were beautiful. It is located high above the beach, where you can explore interesting tidepools and collect the most delicious fresh mussels for dinner. The kitchen was well equipped for gourmet cooking. The beds very comfortable with skylights above, where you can see a million stars at night! It is six miles from downtown Bar Harbor and close to all parts of Acadia National Park. The cabin has a rustic charm. The bathroom is basic, but there is a good supply of hot water. There is a firepit in the woods right outside. We will definitely stay in this lovely cabin again!

We enjoyed our 5 night stay in Spruce chalet with 2 teens and a dog. It was wonderful working with Peter, the owner. Great communication. Cozy rustic chalet with modern amenities. Very clean and comfortable. Location is great for easy access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Amazing views from deck for sunrise and sunset from the private shoreline . Private shoreline access via steps for exploring tidal pools during low tide and abundant quantities of mussels , fresh to pick and steam and enjoy on the deck. Watched lobster boats going our early am from deck. Saw eagle in trees right off deck and watched lobster boats in the bay. Relaxing on the deck and enjoying the views of the bay was definitely a highlight for us! We will be back!

This was the first time we visited Maine, and Maine did not disappoint. Spruce met all our needs and Peter was the perfect host. He was quick to answer all my questions/ texts as well as fix the outside deck light. The house had everything we needed to make our own meals and hang out at night playing cards. Also having a house on the beach was a great way to spend time fishing or walking or just sitting Spruce is in the perfect location to Bar Harbor, Acadia, National Park, as well as the surrounding areas.
We loved our dinners from Mainely barbecue, as well as Sweet Peas. C-Rays lobster was the best around. I highly recommend Spruce to anybody visiting the Bar Harbor area and wanting to wake up every morning to hear the ocean waves on the beach. I am sure we will return one day and hope to stay at Spruce again. Thanks Peter and team for ensuring a wonderful vacation.

The spruce chalet is a modest, rustic cabin in a great location on the water, near Acadia. The doors to bedrooms and bathrooms do not provide full privacy, as they do not close well and have gaps. Mattresses in room with bunks were very uncomfortable. The cabin was dark and needed additional lighting-difficult to even play cards in the evening. No heat in bedrooms (chilly at night) and cabin seemed to lack insulation. Only had two rolls of toilet paper for a week stay. Location allows for convenient tide pooling opportunities. Overall, great location, but cabin was not as nice as expected.

We rented this so called chalet for my daughters wedding not at all what the pictures show it’s a shack the shower is so small that you can’t even turn around in it and I found spiders in my bed the lamps had so much Dust on them with spider webs no AC it was like a 100 degree in there trying to get ready for a wedding the list goes on stay away from this place believe me people it’s not what it show and says in the pictures

Location was beautiful, but pictures made the cabin look bigger than it is and the price was high considering the rustic accommodations. Larger people would be uncomfortable here - the one bathroom is TINY, with very little room to move in the shower. Bedrooms are also small, and the only (small) TV is shoehorned into a bedroom corner . The deck was beautiful and the view is stunning, but the bottom line is that it was definitely not worth the money we paid to stay here. No washer/dryer, broken outdoor showerhead, no cable and no dishwasher (despite being asked in owner's manual to load it before departure).
