The location is outstanding. Family members enjoyed short walks to shopping and dining areas. It was convenient to catch shuttles to Acadia Park. We all enjoyed the nearby land bridge several times. A great house for our 10 family members. The front porch was enjoyed mornings and evenings.

The house was fabulous, with lots of space and historic charm. It is on a beautiful street in downtown Bar Harbor and you can even see the water from the front porch! It was easy to walk down to the restaurants and shops, and a short drive to Acadia. The hosts were responsive. Definitely recommend La Maisonette!

Incredible, spacious, and comfortable stay

This house is ideally located, spacious, and incredibly comfortable. Not one but two kitchens, an expansive living space, and ample beds for all. The bathrooms are a bit cramped but that is where I have to admit I'm nitpicking because it's a gorgeous, and gorgeously kept, house. Highly recommended for large groups.

Great location. Lotta of room and charm. Make sure to understand no air conditioning - which on most days makes no difference. Would happily stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay here and the location was great! Lovely porch to hang out on in mornings and evenings. Great kitchen. We bikied into Acadia from our house with our kids, very close to the carriage Trails. We would stay here again!

Great Old House

We loved our stay. Perfect location. Grand old house with its quirks but this comes with an old house. We thought it was relatively clean, comfortable, and nice. We would stay there again. If you are looking for a pristine, modern, upscale type of place this is not it but if you can appreciate this old house you will love your stay.

Wonderful Week in a perfect location

Our family of 12 (ages 66 - 2) enjoyed our stay. Perfect location! Short drive to Acadia NP. Walking distance to Bar Harbor restaurants, sand bar, shopping and grocery store. Never needed to deal with parking! House is old, but we knew that when we booked it. Wonderful week.

Needs better maintenance at a great location

Great location but cobwebs, moldy showers, burned out lightbulbs, and a non-working and dirty oven put a damper on a premium-priced experience.

Everything We Had Hoped For !

This beautiful historic home was all that we had hoped for - perfect location, comfortable and clean, and very well stocked. Our only disappointment was the grill, which was ok for hot dogs, but needing to be repaired. That said, everything else about the house we loved !!

Even better the second time.

This is a great property in a great location. Easy access to downtown, the park, and shopping. The house is well equipped and has plenty of room for a large group, we had four adult couples and two small children. This was our second stay, the last one four years ago, and we noticed the owner has made investments to upgrade the property, redone bathrooms, new gas grill and fresh paint. It was a great property before and it got better. We’ll be back.

perfect for a family gathering

We had 12 in our family party- family members ranging from 20 to 55 with significant others stayed. The property is an older property with a lot of character. It easily held the 12 of us. Location was AMAZING! We were directly across from the sand bar connecting the harbor to Bar Island. Steps from all down town locations. Close as can be to Acadia Park. The supermarket is directly behind the house. It was perfect!

Maine Event - Our Family Vacation

La Maisonette was kind of a shot in the dark for us. An older house without A/C in the midst of summer? But we wanted to stay in Bar Harbor and it turned out to be a great choice. The house appeared to have been built in sections, perhaps during different periods so we had fun speculating on what came first. Its location (practically at the intersection of West and Bar so access to the land bridge was easy) made accessing the pleasures of downtown Bar Harbor an easy walk. We parked the cars and only used them to drive to Acadia Park for hiking and climbing. The yard out back was great for the kids to play kickball and badminton. All in all (not counting the high humidity), a great place I would recommend to others.

Amazing stay in Bar Harbor - wonderful family vacation location!

Our extended family of 7 (3 generations) had an amazing time! What a wonderful home - plenty of room, clean, comfortable, and the location couldn't be better! Steps away from the walk across the low tide bar to the island, super close to lots of shops and restaurants, easy walk to the grocery store. The 5 year olds loved playing hide and seek in this incredible house with lots of great hiding places! Also we loved reading on the front porch - great place for bedtime stories for the kids! Lots of games -- they had such fun learning to play croquet! Kitchen was very well equipped and spacious! Great to have parking too. All communications were easy with prompt responses. We loved La Maisonette and hope to return! What a beautiful part of the country - we had such fun exploring!

Fantastic Location

This large house was a great size for our family group of 10. The proximity to the main streets of Bar Harbor allowed the teenagers to have the freedom to shop or dine on their own. On the downside, the house needs some repairs. For instance, the roof leaked in the closed in porch when it rained. The furniture in the sitting rooms is old and can be thought of as period appropriate, but the cushions on the sofas and chairs have lost their support and are uncomfortable. While the condition of the home and its furnishings need attention, the size and location of the home make it one to consider when visiting Bar Harbor.

Wonderful!

The house was amazing for our family group of 11 people. 6 bedrooms with linens included. So much space to be together and to have alone times in various nooks and crannies. Big backyard for yard games too. Old home charm. 2 kitchens with 2 fridges. 2 washers and dryers. The best part was the location. It was such close proximity to everything in Bar Harbor. We walked into town for breakfasts and dinners and excursions. We were a block or so away from the land bridge. We were also extremely close to Acadia National Park. And the owners were responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend this home! Wonderful trip.

Something For Everyone

I selected La Maisonette for our family vacation because it seemed to fit everything I was looking for...a roomy home with lots of bedrooms and an equipped kitchen in a location that was within walking distance of amusements. There were 8 of us, ages 21 to 77, and I wanted to ensure that no one had to wait for a ride to have fun. La Maisonette more than fit the bill! The house was just beautiful and a short walk away from restaurants, a fine grocery store, shops and interesting bars (for the under 70 folks). While the youngsters and youngster-wanna-bes hiked the park, the older, wiser folks took the trollie. On the many days it rained, there were cards and games to be enjoyed. Those who didn't indulge in games were able to find a quiet nook and enjoy online videos, Facebook and email over wi-fi. I made some family favorites for meals...my personal contribution to the utensil drawer is a veg peeler I picked up to peel the many apples needed for baked apple pancakes. When looking for the missing member of our party, I'd often find them on the porch either reading, gazing at the water, or watching the folks walk by. I can tell you that the pictures do not this property justice. It is a beautiful home that I would recommend to anyone. Because my folks are getting up there in years (and are from Wisconsin) and their grandchildren are now adults, it's likely that this will be the last type of vacation we will all be able to take together. I'm glad it could be in such a beautiful home.
