Laurel Cottage - Home w/ hot tub, fire pit, walk to Banner Elk, pets OK
Laurel Cottage combines the tranquility of mountain air and untouched nature with an ideal location near quaint downtown Banner Elk. We are ideally located 15 minutes from Beech and Sugar Mountains. Banner Elk is home to local festivals, amazing restaurants, parks, alpine coaster, local breweries & Lees McRae College. Within a short drive access the Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mtn and Blowing Rock. End the day with the sunset from the deck or cozied up to the gas fireplace. We have recently added a new hot tub located under the stars on our property. It is the perfect location to end the day after a long hike or day on the slopes. Because of this addition, we have added security cameras at the front and back entrance to the house. The hot tub can be viewed by the camera. This is for security only. It is activated by motion and will be monitored when we have unexpected motion. We expect motion during a rental and we will respect your privacy at all times.

We had a great time. The property is convenient to downtown, the dog park and trails, and short drives to activities and hiking. Perfect location, great for families and our four-legged family member!
We rented this house so we could explore the Banner Elk area due to a future wedding in the area. The house was great and the owners were great in helping us with the area. Great location close to town.we loved the area .
The house was clean and very comfortable for our family of 5. We enjoyed the hot tub and the cozy fireplace. It was an 8 min downhill walk to the local brewery and to the greenway that leads to town. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped. Great stay!
Nestled on the mountain side, the cottage is an ideal place to visit Banner Elk and all the nearby attractions. It’s close proximity to Banner Elk has greenway trail to town as well as nearby Kettelwork Brewery. The cottage is quaint welcoming farmhouse motif with all modern amenities. Clean, cozy and comfortable. The fire pit, grill and all essentials make for a complete stay.
We just spent the weekend in this beautiful mountain cabin. The listing describes everything perfectly. The home has very comfortable furniture. The beds are fabulous and the hot tub is a nice addition at the end of the day. We loved how private it was and the views from the deck while we relaxed was perfect. We had a family of 9 deer visit us everyday several times a day.
The home is very close to downtown and all the great restaurants. We had a delicious lunch and Dinner at Sorrentos there’s also an arcade that was fun to play arcade games in.
Hosts were very responsive anything I had a question . We will definitely look to book this cabin on our next trip back to BE.
This place is an easy 15 minutes to Beech Mountain. Our teens loved the hot tub! The only heaters in the home are space heaters and a ventless gas heater which we didn’t leave on due to the smell. The property manager was very quick to send someone out to light the heater. Fortunately it was not very cold during our stay. The walls were pretty thin so it was hard to have privacy. Otherwise it was clean and convenient. I would suggest upgrading on the heat though.
We sure enjoyed our stay for my daughter's performance in Matilda(Matilda's mom)...she got this role her freshman year 2018,but because of Covid they just now were allowed to present the show. Some fam got to come surprise us with 7 yr.old 5yr.old and 3yr.old who loved the cottage location and privacy. We have enjoyed everything offered to us and fill very fortunate for closeness to Banner Elk.The shops and restaurants right in town make the stay so satisfying. The park has many enjoyed sites for walkers /dogs and kids. Please keep this lovely cottage in mind...thanks for an awesome time!!!
The pictures of the house on VRBO were misleading vs. what it really looked like inside. When we arrived we took over 40 pic's of the interior and furniture. The living area furniture looked like it was picked off a junk pile...torn and worn, again we have pics. Numerous water spots on walls throughout the house, again we have pic's. Kitchen light had an exposed wire. An electrical outlet in the living area had a large opening atop of the plate. The majority of the bead board wasn't adhered to the crown molding...gaps throughout. In order to watch TV, which was app oriented, I would have had to input my own user login and password, which I wasn't willing to do. Even "Live TV" which we selected was difficult to watch, so we just turned it off and went to bed. We had scheduled our arrival on 6/3 with a departure on 6/6. We did arrive on 6/3 and left the next morning. We paid way way way too much based on the condition of the house and furniture, which we now consider a total loss. My wife and I have spent many days in the Banner Elk/Blowing Rock area and this is the worst rental ever, we've never encountered any problems over a 20+ years renting in the area. We love Banner Elk and Blowing Rock and this trip was ROCK BOTTOM!
Overall, we enjoyed staying at this property. The location was convenient to a variety of places. The hot tub and fire pit were nice additions. The cabin had an odor to it that was noticeable to all family members but we kept candles lit to overcome the odor. It was easy to communicate with the host as well.
Had a perfect few days here enjoying the fall weather. Easy walk (down) to the greenway trail and town. Invigorating walk back up. The house is perfectly equipped. Easy check in and communication with our host. Highly recommend.
