In the background is the only remnants of the Ardstinchair Castle remaining to this day. Ardstinchar Castle is a late medieval castle in the west coast of Ayrshire at the mouth of the River Stinchar. It was built by Hugh Kennedy of Ardstinchar in the mid-15th century. In the 1770s, the castle was demolished and the stone was used to build a bridge. In the middle is a war memorial.

"We had booked the Argyll Spa 2, but on arrival was informed it had a leak that needed fixed so we were upgraded to a pond view lodge so I can only comment on that. It was brilliant. Huge front decking area. Comfortable living area. Big kitchen. Dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer etc. good sized bedrooms. A real home from home"

We appreciated Julia meeting us on arrival and the tea, coffee, milk and biscuits that were left for us. The views over the loch and the surrounding countryside were stunning. We were fortunate to enjoy some sunny weather and spent time exploring the surrounding area, taking a walk around one of the lochs and relaxing on the decking."
