Wizard's Guest Cottage
Perched on a plateau 900 feet above downtown Austin, The Wizard's Guest House is on the 21-acre campus of Wizard Academy, home of:
1. The Wizard's Tower, overlooking Downtown Austin and the Texas Hill Country. 2. Chapel Dulcinea, the world-famous free wedding chapel, hosting 1,100 weddings each year. 3. The Crowded Barrel, the world's first crowd-sourced whiskey distillery, 4. The Fang and Feather Whiskey Tasting Room, home of YouTube's #1 whiskey review channel, The Whiskey Tribe. 5. Tuscan Gardens and Tuscan Hall, a special events venue surrounded by a spectacular private garden complete with waterfall, a reflecting pool, an Italian Marble gazebo, multiple garden follies and photo-worthy statuary. 6. The Enchanted Emporium, also known as The Welcome Center with plenty of seating inside and out, is happily stocked with beer and wine and soft drinks.
The Wizard's Guest Cottage faces eastward toward Tuscan Gardens and is exactly 50 feet south of the Crowded Barrel Distillery. Rental of the Wizard's Guest House does not guarantee you entry into The Wizard's Tower or the Crowded Barrel Distillery, but private tours have been known to happen for those lucky enough to bump into one of the right people at just the right time.
But you will definitely get: Two luxurious Bedrooms An impressive Living Room A 2-station styling salon A kitchenette complete with wine glasses, plates, eating utensils, etc. BUT... this is NOT a kitchen for cooking. The good news is you are a very short drive from Austin's famous Salt Lick Barbecue and several other places that offer inside dining and outstanding carry-out.

Lovely place to go relax and unwind with my hubby. Wonderful front patio. We watched humming birds and listened to wind chimes with our morning coffee. Loved the courtyard across from where we stayed as well.
This was an absolute dream location for our wedding morning! Why anyone wouldn’t stay here beyond me! The beds were so comfortable, the decor is beyond gorgeous, the salon area is a dream! Love love love! Made my wedding incredibly special! Great communication! Make your day special and get it!!!!
Loved our stay. Our friend was getting married at the chapel down the way and we offered her the styling room and bridal room to get ready. it was the perfect way to spend time together on her special day. We slept in the cowboy room once we had the place to ourselves. Plenty of coffee and creamer but we also brought our own. Be sure to bring your water and ice. A simple disposable cooler will do the trick. We loved walking the grounds at night and listening to all the wildlife. I will be visiting again!
If I could sum our stay in o one word it would be “magical!” Our hosts, Joe & Indigo, we’re so thoughtful and accommodating. The cottage was stunning with VIP service wherever we went. A special thanks for the great cocktails at Fang & Feather with Liam & Isaac and the whiskey library and Don Quixote art experience made us feel like we were truly wizards! This is truly a very special place and we can’t wait to visit again.
We stayed here for our wedding 2 years ago! You definitely have added some awesome stuff and kept it up. However, the truck dumping trash last night was super loud and disrupted our sleep and the hot water in the shower didn’t work :(
Top of the line property!
There's a fantastic balance of whimsy and opulence combined across the entire campus. It's just perfect for so many different purposes - sleek weddings under the oaks and in the huge Tuscan hall, a weekend getaway for two friends, a family reunion, or a weekend class retreat. The Tuscan hall and the reception area next to it are especially classy and manicured. The little white gazebo behind the small amphitheater is actual solid marble - so gorgeous! Outside the hall there's also a waterfall with a sculpture of a boy in the pond below, and it is a fire sculpture that they will turn on for guests! It's really gorgeous.
The campus has trails leading all over it between various structures and sculptures. It's fun to take an evening walk around and watch the sunset from a breathtaking view over the rolling hill country. The onsite bar is cute and there are little thoughtful touches everywhere, like a little rain shelter with colored glass hanging from the ceiling, or the myriad of intentional Insta-worthy backdrops and perches made for posing.
The guest house is Texas chic meets boho fantasy. The beds are huge and the covers and pillows so comfy. I have a bad back but I slept great and woke up refreshed. There's so much ambient lighting (in the form of lamps and chandeliers and lighted branches and Turkish lamps and a streetlight and a Tiffany floor lamp) that it's easy to create a whole mood and adjust it to the light that you crave. Atmosphere is really important to me, and this place met that craving completely.
The only thing that wasn't 100% amazing was that it's opposite day in the shower - hot = cold, and overhead = handheld. I could have also just misunderstood the controls though. ;)
A plus, outstanding, well done you guys.
Standing ovation.
